As I have started making a sort of theorycraft spreadsheet for my PvP build I noticed something rather strange. Didn’t want to put it in the bug reports section before I ask here, since I’m rather unfamiliar with bounces.

My tests conclude that Bounces are counted towards “cast range”.
For example, if you cast them from 1000 range, you might get one bounce only, but if you do that in 400 range, you will get 3 bounces.

Here’s a rather neat picture to illustrate it.

Edit : After further tests, I’m now thinking its more of some combination of range+"last bounce fails to land" bug.

Bouncing attacks of all types have always acted like this, it’s not a bug.

A projectile in Gw2 has a maximum distance at which it can travel in total. Generally i’d guess that this distance is about 1.9x or 2.3x the distance indicated on the skill itself when it comes to attacks or projectiles that bounce. it could be more but that’s just what i would guess.

Bouncing skills are also still tied to the typical projectile rules and cannot travel further than they normally would in a single journey. aka you can throw out Gs2 in range and then dodge back out of its range, the projectile will strike your target but then cannot reach you and will disappear mid flight.
