Rally on clones
You can rally on mesmer clones. Some1 else noticed it?
Yes. I always shatter my illusions when I drop my target, if I can.
Popping a clone just to have it revive a downed target is…depressing.
As a mesmer I’m better at reviving my enemies than their allies are.
I quite like this nerf
Yeah, shatter a downed body is like shattering life into him. It’s a very neat twist. :P
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
Just to Clarify, You are able to Rally on BOTH Clones AND Phantasms, of EVERY type, spawned in anyway. Either by killing them manually during downed state OR being shattered by one.
Can confirm, just tested in pvp.

Wait, so let me make sure I understand this:
- Mesmer has illusions out
- Mesmer downs Opponent
- Mesmer shatters (e.g. Distortion shatter to cover stomp)
- Opponent rallies
Is that correct?

Since when has this bug been in effect? I’ve killed clones before while downed and not gotten up…
it must be bug what came with this patch
ps already going to eb I can finaly successfully banner ppl xD enemys but still xD I feel like a hero
(edited by baylock.1703)
Okay, that’s worse than I realized.
I’ve always had downed opponents get up if they killed the clone.
But shatter to revive is obscene, and makes mesmers essentially worthless in sPVP.

That was happening before this patch.
I’m more concerned with reports that shatters are rallying.
Was trolling a bit at hj by not allowing team mates to stomp enemies and permarally them.
Though it doesn’t always give rally. Not sure how it works.

This never happened before patch. Then thieves could be able to instarally by 1-2 hits to clones.

shrug
It was happening to me. That’s why I got in the habit of shattering after I dropped someone, so they’d have nothing to rally off of.
It was newer happens to me when I played mesmer. And never happened when I fighting enemy mesmer. Believe me, it would be one of the main and well known anti mesmer fight tactic.

Don’t know what to tell ya. Bully for you, I guess?
devs aware of this, and a fix is on the way.
Someone say game crash must be related to OOM
when you read the log it’s not related to that whatsoever…
Can confirm that pre-patch no sort of rallying behavior in any way, shape, or form worked with any illusions. You need to pay a bit more attention to what your opponents are doing, Alpha.

Nwm.
Just wondering to your opinion.

lol, it wasn’t some crazy situation that was easy to mistake, Pyro.
I noticed it first doing pvp dailies in my guild arena. Testing it was pretty easy.
I tested it in some unranked after that, paying special attention to 1v1s on point, and I had several people rally off my illusions, as there was no one else around to account for the rally.
As I haven’t been doing sPvP all that long, I just shrugged it off and started shattering my illusions when I dropped someone. Didn’t occur to me it might be a bug vs a design decision.
Shatter has never counted as a illusion death, so don’t think this would work with the bug, but who knows. Never tested it after the most recent patch yet.
Schrödingers Clone: PvP Mesmer
I would be glad if anet fixes Lithany of Wrath healing through hits illusions too
I should note that I noticed this relatively recently, I just assumed that it was just something I hadn’t noticed sooner because I was too noob.
It takes time to get used to seeing everything that’s going on.
MB opponents was using some type of exploit/bug? I remember a thief perma porting in downed state.
But it newer happens before today’s patch. It is easy to check at any mesmer youtube or stream videos.
Clone block stomp wouln’t exist too.

Well, I’ll certainly start paying attention to that, but I believe you.
Up to now my first priority in watching videos and streams was understanding the build, then the general strategy, but I’ve always had a hard time sorting out the actual play by play in videos. Heck, it’s only in the last 2 weeks that I’ve felt really comfortable seeing everything that’s going on around me in actual play, much less through a grainy vid.
I know a lot more about common builds at this point than I do about how to time shatters and abilities :P
Still, my experience with the rallying was pretty clear-cut. If it never happened to you, then I must have encountered a different bug.
I can’t imagine any of the guildies involved being the exploit type, though, and I did head to unranked to verify it.
it’s not a nerf it is obviously a bug that came with the bug fixes

It’s apparently planned for the next hotfix:
Planning on pushing a fix for this in Hotfix 2

You seem to be the only one that experienced that. Been playing mesmer since bwe1 of the core game, and I’ve never seen someone rally off a mesmer illusion before now.

Or if an illusion is killed some other way, yes.
Its also happening in wvw btw. And I saw a report that it might be happening with necro minions too.
and if that’s the case… ranger pets? Harder to kill in downed state, but….

dev response there.
Unbelievable. Just realised this when a guard and necro got up from downed 3 times.
I was wondering what was going on tonight in pvp,
2v1 and won like 3 times if not more but could not stomp them. They kept rallying so fast. At first I thought a thief was around, then though I was lagging. But i see now it a new bug anet just handed to our class.
Come on Anet, this is getting really stupid, first we can max dueling traits now this.
Do they really hate us that much.
@AlphatheWhite
Sorry but this wasn’t present pre patch. I should know, been playing the same build for so long and been playing pvp almost everyday. It has never happened to me. I dont know how you got it happening to you pre patch. but this is new.
Weird bug.
Just started playing for the first time in a month and it’s a strange bug to come back to. Hope it gets fixed quickly.
Thank god they were quick to fix this, this was really annoying.

It was kittening me off so logged of the day
Fixed according to patch notes, anyway: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/updates/Game-Update-Notes-August-25-2015/5416188

I actually wouldn’t be surprised if this was a bug before this patch. One time I downed some one off point and was just blasting them with spatial surge while standing on point when for some odd reason I used mirror blade to kill them faster (I know I probably shouldn’t have). They had low health but a couple seconds later they rallied. I just tried to explain it away as maybe there was a thief who stealthed, helped rez, and then ran away. However, this makes a lot more sense to me. Glad, and surprised, it was fixed so quickly.

For those of us who’ve PvP’d (including WvW) exclusively during our GW2 history (since release for many), it would have been so glaringly obvious at some point that this would not have been the first time anyone noticed. In fact, doesn’t it seem strange that the moment it did come up (right after a patch no less) it was noticed, and obvious to many people all at once? Not to mentioned repped and fixed within a day?
Also, does anyone think Mesmer would have made it into any of the tournaments at any point if this bug was present? It’d be like handing the trophy to the other team. The top pros would have noticed it and exploited it mercilessly.

Thank you for this Statement.
Let even say this bug was present in one way or from and can only be done when the right conditions are met, we would have known about this
and just as rightly you have said, the pros would have seen this, and play on it.
For Those people that say this was happening pre patch, a simple explanasion will be, doing damage to someone and leaving the fight for your team to finish off when you encounter then and down then they are lucky their team finished off the other player triggering their fast rally

This is an ignorant and rather condescending assertion.
Ignorant because you clearly didn’t read our description of the circumstances, which totally precludes your stupid assumption about what we did wrong.
Condescending because your first assumption is not that we encountered a rare circumstance, but that we’re too stupid to recognize a 1v1 situation when we see it.
Both I and Xstein described 1v1 scenarios where there was no other teammate to trigger the rally.
In neither Xstein’s case nor mine did we “leave the fight” for our team to finish off. Xstein was grinding the enemy down so he could stay on point, and I was actually heading over to stomp in most cases where it occurred (even starting the stomp a couple times).
Too many people here are discounting eyewitness accounts of this as impossible, when we know that bugs can occur in all kinds of different ways.
What is certain is that before the patch it was not common, and likely involved some specific circumstances. In my case, it’s entirely possible that I was bugged, specifically, to be seeing it more often than even Xstein did.
In either case though, the nature of a rare bug is that it’s not at all surprising when most people haven’t seen it happen. I never once had Ineptitude cause a crash on me, but as you can see in the patch notes, there was indeed a crash bug that they fixed.

To conclude: It’s just more reasonable to assume you were mistaken (particularly in your stated inexperience) than to conclude you were uniquely special to possess or stumble upon this bug.
Necromancers have a bug present with a similar effect that’s far harder to identify but has been known about (and not fixed) for a very, very long time.
To put it a more popular albeit less eloquent way: Vid or it didn’t happen.
