As the title says. There is absolutley no reason why this 50% hp restriction exisits. For those who are in the dark:
Clone PvE: 4,171
Clone PvP/WvW: 2,433
Phantasm PvE: 5,821
Phantasm PvP/WvW: 3,396
Phantasmal Defender PvE: 12,476
Phantasmal Defender PvP/WvW: 7,278
THIS is the reason why your phantasms instantly die to everything in PvP, because of literally no valid reason.

They rarely split PvE from PvP, and here is a good place not to do it. Also, PvE illusions now have 90% damage reduction, so the gap is immense.
Not to mention, this means that “Persisting images” give an amazing 679 additional HP to your phantasm. With this, they can sustain one additional auto attack from a cleric guardian! Definitely worth it…

goes back to the “OP” PU build…. wasn’t enough to nerf one thing like the stealth duration for example to balance the build…. had to make sure every single aspect of that build was trash even if doing that meant hurting all other phantasm builds at the same time.
With mes dps so low it’d be nice if they bumped the dmg on phants…. be even nicer if they made phants have some new useful mechanic and gave the dmg loss back to the mes themselves so the dmg output can be controlled.

Actually, all the hp values used to be far lower. They then increased pvp/wvw values by 50% or something, and increased pve values by 270%, if memory serves.
Mesmers can put out so many clones in such rapid succession. Currently there is a small reward to opponents who risk taking focus off the mesmer to kill it’s clones. Increasing clone durability would remove that reward and something else would have to be toned down instead, such as… stealth access or duration?

You clearly have no idea how any of this functions right now.

In reality clones die to cleaving, it is not like anyone need waste time on killing them.

I typically do in 1v1s or small roaming groups. I can see how they can go down quickly in a pirate ship zerg, but in reality, means clones hardly stay attached in a nice neat cleave pile.

If the clones are all spread out, they’re useless. If they’re packed tight, they’re in a nice cleave pile. If you knew how mesmer worked, you’d know this already. You can’t execute a clean shatter with your clones scattered around, and shattering necessarily groups the clones up. If you’re not bad, countering it is as easy as pressing 1.

+1 this would give another build option in pvp and wvw . phantasms build and not hardly shatter

Lots of classes cleave threw it. In the old days Mez had the bomb build where’s you took loads of damage from killing clones & illusions. That dint get nerfed. It just got removed….sigh.. :/
This is a good idea which addresses [not fully fixing, but very much beneficial] many of Mesmer’s problems. Illusion survivability has always been at the center of Mesmer’s issues, with shatters and phantasms being unable to survive AoE.

Unless they ninja added this the information here is not correct. Vitality has no bearing on clones or phantasms.

Ok tested it with a friend in a lv80 area, using gear that grants me 315 Vitality.
Vitality | 1000 | 1315 | 315 | 1
DMG Phantasms (iWarden, iSwordy, iDuellist, iWarlock, iMage, iDisenchanter)
5821 HP | 6754 HP | +933 HP | 2.96 HP per 1 Vitality Point
Shield Phantasms (iDefender, iAvenger)
12476 HP | 14475 HP | +1999 HP | 6.35 HP per 1 Vitality Point
Clones (all of them)
4171 HP | 4839 HP | 668 HP | 2.12 HP per 1 Vitality Point
So, yea they scale with Vita like I tested about a year ago. So either they patched it with the ninja nerf to all Illusions HP (when defender still had 20k HP) 2 years ago, or it has always been like this.

Tested in WvW or best PvP? In PvE they are fine.
Maybe the trait giving +HP sould not give a % and should just remove the scaledown so buffing the trait.

From the numbers its PvE 80 zone …. I did´t look at it for a while but its ovious that its not PvP …. But i still agree that a HP buff would help. I have a hybrid build that does not shatter much, but rarly play it … In PvE it works better then other classes.
So while i can assume it scales with vit in PvP too (jsut about half to PvE) it´t not clear if it work in this way…

well yes. This makes them tanky … I know it and PvE they are good.
Honestly i don´t care much about PvE i play WvW and PvP 99% of my time. I use PvE to get some gear and use the mesmer to get one map compleation somewhere in the future thats it.
