[Request] Fix/change iLeap in next patch
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/mesmer/Guide-WvWvW-Pve-Shatter-Cat/
I wholeheartedly agree. It is just baffling to me that this hasn’t been fixed by now. Or at least changed in some way to make it work properly.
+1000. Necros think they have it bad with bugs, pfft! While we’re at it can we also demand for iWave to be fixed? I hate not being able to interrupt people because they’re standing 2cm above/below me. T_T
(edited by Renny.6571)
On EotM it is particularly tough and annoying to manage.
Agree, there is no reason that iLeap is not getting fix in this amount of time. Even Warden is broken for more about 3 months now… What the hell, Anet? How many more topics we need to make about this!?
I absolutely agree. It’s frustrating when you depend on this ability to do something you’ve been planning all this fight … and fails.
I fear that if I hold my breath for this fix, I’ll just end up brain damaged.
I’d love for it to be fixed, but I don’t have any faith left in the balance devs of this game, so I’m going to go ahead and say I’ll be surprised if it’s fixed by 2015.
Wasn’t there a post somewhere a long time ago by a dev stating that they would never fix it at least as it exists in its current form without remaking the skill?
The iWarden bug drives me absolutely insane. A skill just completely failing to work should be hotfixed almost immediately.
When we see the whole history…I still do not understand why they did manage to ruin the class to this level.
-ILeap buged since beginning
-Glamour broken in pvp
-Time warp nerfed by 50%
-No tools to manage thieves who are hardcountering mesmers (best players who left the profession)
-Condition buff ruining mesmers survivability
-Nerf on Blurred Fenzy to punish shatter mesmer taking risk on stupid hammer zergs
-Retal on feedback
-Nerf to Null field (only two buffs pers sec)
-Nerf to chaos armor (icd)
-Nerf to Staff 4 (no more protection)
-Nerf to vigor on crit => we will survive even less and be even more hardbursted by thieves (because it is known by anybody that survivability on mesmers is out of control)
I though 20 second dodging / evading on some class was the problem…this one is still not fixed.
Buffs ?
-PU => cheesy mindless and in the end unefficient at high level
-Lockdown => not competitive
Did I miss something ?
Well thank you Anet..you really did a good job.

They mentioned that the bug occurs due to game mechanics which can’t be changed.
However, this doesn’t mean that there could not be any work around. For example, the clone could spawn at the target location which would easily overcome the pathing issue. Easy and clean fix. But iLeap doesn’t appear to be any priority.

Mantras. We all know that the main Mesmer types are Shatter, Phantasm, Mantra.

playing both a necro and a mesmer I can say both classes have bugs that need to be addressed and have yet to be. Its sad really it almost seems like the fact that people hate on the classes so much keeps them from getting the attention needed to get bug fix’s let alone real quality of life changes.
It was 2 vs 20 but its ok we got’em both!
Mantras. We all know that the main Mesmer types are Shatter, Phantasm, Mantra.
Oh yes mantra…i didn’t even mention it …it is so unefficient in pvp ..i forgot to think it existed
Ineed Anet buffed useless traits on unviable builds…nice job.
I’d love for it to be fixed, but I don’t have any faith left in the balance devs of this game, so I’m going to go ahead and say I’ll be surprised if it’s fixed by 2015.
Exactly my thoughts, sadly.
I used to have so much respect for the devs, with them promosing to communicate about stuff. There have been way too many “Good for the game, bad for the players” nerfs, to the point where Mesmers are sub-optimal pretty much everywhere. I just feel like the balance team has no idea what they’re doing. Ever since the big “build diversity” patch.

jeah, pls fix that !
Should of been fixed ages ago, why its still bugged is beyond me, fix it anet.
Make iLeap and most mesmer skills usable without targets! , a warrior guardian , ranger , can zoom away with their leaps, yet here i am having to find the nearest mob and aggro them to use it right..

Well thank you Anet..you really did a good job.
you had me till cheesy and mindless and unefficient : Please tell me how Shatter (fast paced burst ,evade, stun, clone spasms, high damage, uses phantasms) , Phantasm (3 phantasms means win, evade, leap , frenzy , usually a bit bunker) , Bunker ( sustain, uses phantasm primarily, high regen) , Condition ( uses torment, confusion, bleeds and burn as punishing factors, torment can reach up to 13k, and bleeds for 3k , burn for 3k , confusion 1k per tic), I could go on, but to be honest , when you get down to it, anything can be mindless and cheesy.
P.S. if stunlock became competitive : this thread would be flooded with posts : stun cc mesmer OP, easy gamemode, no real challenge, locksdown, need stunbreaks, please Anet nerf, we need (insert playstyle) to be as efficient again because stunlock is easymode.

In eotm its like crazy. You may be lucky to get it off there 1/2 of the times.

I’ve given up hope on Anet getting off their backsides and doing something useful for a change. This has been broken since Beta like you said… if they wanted to fix it, they would have done so a long time ago.
Yet, very few skills are so integral to many of our builds… I can’t believe they’ve let this linger on for so long. I’ve made so many posts about it, I lost count.
I thought I remembered this working perfectly in Beta Weekend 1, as a leap that left a clone behind you, which you could then swap to, but I might be remembering a different weapon, as I know a ton of skills got swapped around.

That was in teh 1st beta, and it was horrible.
the 2nd skill actually made you leap and leave a clone. the 3rd skill made a clone leap. Activating any agian would swap position…
Yeah, no thank you. I’d rather have blurred frenzy :P

Ahh, yeah, I remember that now. I agree, Blurred frenzy is better, though it would be nice to have one of those now in place of “Push button…. nothing happens”
I fear that if I hold my breath for this fix, I’ll just end up brain damaged.
Ha! Yep.
Honestly, if even one of our long list of broken skills gets fixed anytime soon, I will consider it a huge victory.
By the way, have you noticed how often mesmer underwater weapons get mentioned in patch notes. I think perhaps we have some of the most well-balanced underwater weapons!
I wouldn’t mind having other gap closers.
Yea I kill People.
If anything if Illusionary leap behaved like flanking strike in some sense whilst still having the root I’d be happy as a pig in kitten.
never seen osicat cried out before…osicat always gives tips, playstyles and builds but never cried out for change in a skill or mechanic…anet must heed the cries of all melee mesmers now. i think pyro suggested a long time ago, to get rid of leap’s pathing and just have a clone spawn next to the target with the option to swap. like how iwarden is summoned…have the clone summon the same way..heck the clone doesn’t need to attack or even follow…it just needs to be next to the target when casted so we can just swap and apply that 1-2 sec immoblize and we can blur frenzy ourselves to death if they have retaliation up. i need to lay down…for a bit
ctrl+c iwarden coding…ctrl+v over current ileap coding…change a few lines and bam…make all mesmers
very happy…and win dev of the year from all of us
yes this shood be priority nb 1 on mesmer and all who agree give your opinion so we are heard!!!

Unfortunately I think it will not be fixed.
At least they said that they couldn’t fix it.

“1. The skill does not apply cripple as states in the Tooltip. (Since patch 1/3)
2. The skill is not affected by the trait Blade Training which is supposed to reduce CD of sword skills by 20%. The tooltip says 9.5s CD but it goes on 12s CD after use. (Since Release)
3. Pathing of the Illusion that Leaps acts bugged aswell when not using it on flat ground. It cannot make it on the ramps and over any small obstacles even If you’re in the line of sight and within range. (Since Release)”

“We have a potential fix for the bug with Illusionary Leap in the March update.
As for the third point brought up by the OP, some of you have surmised that this is a pathing issue with NPCs, and you’re correct; unfortunately, this is a limitation of our system and one that we do not have plans to change at this time."

leap, warden, curtain
the unholy trinity.
“Mentoring engineers / mesmers and showing you what you can do with your fantastic class!
Just pm me for my advice! Always eager to help!”
So. Theo say that with the current engine and technical mojo it can’t be fixed. Then for god,s sake change the mechanic.
Its like if a car manufacture sold cars who don’t work, and ppl complain. The manufacture say:
- I’m sorry, but the engine we have in the cars don’t work cause a technical solution for the gasoline pump*
Then they happily kept manufacture cars who don’t work. Solution would be to change how the pump work or install a totally new solution. Even if it mean the cars engine would work in another way it would at least work.
And that Jason say " thank you for your understanding bla bla" is utterly arrogant as no one have any understanding for this lvl of incompetence.
Jesus crist do I really have to say this to the devs? Can’t believe any sane person would not realise a thing like this.

Yeah, I’m not buying into the “can’t be fixed” argument either. Just change the mechanic, there’s plenty of similar things that do work, like Shadowstep or whatever. If you can’t fix it, you change it, there’s no argument about it.
They know full well this is one of the Mesmer’s major bugs since WAY back but they have never replied to a single thread made complaining about it.
If they where going to fix this it would have been done already, They don’t know how to/Or don’t really care.
Why can’t they leap just like the iSwordsman? I have never seen the phantasm bug as much the clone.
Put this in the bug forums. Hope its not get me banned

I always wonder about that. I thought if someone jumps off to different ground-level iSwordsman still have to walk down before leap in? Still it would solve some silly issue where ileap just dash a short distance then stop.

Yeah, iSwordsman walks and them leaps at ~300 range. iLeap could walk really fast then jump when it’s viable, or just walk straight to the target if he’s upstairs.
i think pyro suggested a long time ago, to get rid of leap’s pathing and just have a clone spawn next to the target with the option to swap. like how iwarden is summoned…have the clone summon the same way..heck the clone doesn’t need to attack or even follow…it just needs to be next to the target when casted so we can just swap and apply that 1-2 sec immoblize and we can blur frenzy ourselves to death if they have retaliation up. i need to lay down…for a bit
There have been several threads that actually suggested this, but Pyro always disagrees. By then, I still picked his side…
- having the clone spawn instantly will make this skill untelegraphed and OP. Illusionary leap, just like pin down, backstab, eviscerate, lightning breath, fire grab, skull crack is hugely telegrphed. Illusionary leap’s effect, immobilize and stun break is also similar to these hugely telegraphed skills that can do about 10k damage and more in under a second.
Yeah, that’s just not the case anymore. Back when Mesmers were still in the meta, leap WAS a powerfull skill, and also telegraphed. Now, there’s just so little you can do during the immobilize, it’s not even worth it.
- Warriors are too tanky and have condi immuneness. Even if you manage to land all your damage in that 2 seconds, they barely lost any health and will soon regenerate with all their passive effects.
- thieves just evade through it/teleport
- guards are too tanky and just remove conditions, then casually stroll away
- necros dont even care. They drop marks on you and using swap actually makes yoy an easier target
A dev said ‘Mesmers have some good stuff coming in the balance path’ somewhere… This good stuff better not be the critical infusion nerf. I want to enjoy this game so bad… But living story is nothing but zerg events (which Mesmer can’t do) and balance patches are nothing but Mesmer nerfs and boring metas with passives.

Another reason why having the clone spawn directly on the target is a bad idea is that it separates the swap utility from the leap.
Currently, if the clone can reach your target, i.e. it can path to your target, the leap will be successful in moving you to your target. However, this is only the case if the clone actually paths to the target. If the clone simply gets summoned on target, then you’d be able to summon the clone on targets that you couldn’t leap to.
Additionally, if the clone simply summoned on target, having the skill be a leap finisher would make no sense, and I rather like having a double leap finisher on demand.
Lastly, just because mesmers aren’t in the meta right now doesn’t mean that adding overpowered skills is a good idea. No matter how viable any given class or build is, adding skills that lack counterplay is always a bad idea. The game should move as a whole towards more counterplay, not less.
