If fought a GS + S/P shatter Mesmer today in WvW and she destroyed my innocent P/D thief 3 times in a row. This was probably the first time I’ve seen a shatter Mesmer running that weapon combo and to be honest, I was rather impressed. Typically, I don’t consider your class all that much of a threat on my Thief but from here on out, I’ll be much more cautious.

What made it worse was I ran into her again later and she was running tag-team with yet, another shatter Mesmer. I think at that point I just used the /cry emote and died.

By chance, can any of you link this shatter build I ran into?

I think she probably took 30 into Shadow Arts for maximum outplay potential.

was ur enemy mesmer by any chance an asura, and maybe of silver rank or above? he is pretty good, forgot his name tho, we duelled for hours

In any case there it’ll be x/4/x/x/6, since shatter is most effective with DE in dueling master and IP in illusion grandmaster. If she strips your boon then its 4/4/0/0/6, if she interrupts you and gain 5x might then its 0/4/4/0/6. Although latter is less likely, considering the weapon set she’ll need mantra of distraction to consistently interrupt.

It was actually a human female using that “blue” armor set. Sorry, I can’t remember what it’s called atm.

You should try give us a bit more information. Did you get conditions on you a lot? Such as Torment, Confusion, Vulnerability, Bleeds. If you did, it was a hybrid most likely. Did the Mesmer have Protection, Aegis, Regen up a lot? If so they used PU. There’s a few options to be had in Shatter builds.

Also, GS + Sw/P is pretty common for Shatter builds.

Because p/d doesn’t magically enter stealth, sure you can CnD of a clone but if shattered right you stealth only a few times if it was death clone or phantasm sure. Hey you can even backstep,do GS AA and still won some people fail to understand this spec with little mobility.
