Q:
So with the decrease in mantra cast time, mantra healing builds become far more viable. My question is what is the range on the heal exactly? Is there a limit to how many allies will be healed? The tooltip only says ‘heals nearby allies’ and it’s not mentioned on the wiki or anything else definitive that I can find.
An official response to this would be great so I know what my limitations are so I can stop guessing and being in the dark about this trait (and the wiki can be updated with more accurate information).
A:
Range is roughly ~600-700, 5 target limit.

Did you get these numbers from observation/testing?
Just to clarify, while it says it heals allies it also heals yourself. This trait combined with the Harmonious Mantras trait gives you a total of 4 small self heals from Mantra of Recovery.
The healing part is tied to the charging of the mantra only. Harmonious Mantras does not help in how much you can heal others but spamming mantra of pain has the highest healing output for others considering it has such a low cool down for its charge portion.
I’d say it’s smaller than 600. 450~600 imo. But that’s enough.
But the 5 target limit has especially been implemented/ patched later on. As I remember they further patched it to priorize players over pets and npcs.

Yes, I tested that in mists and sometimes use them in maw\charr fractal.
Three things stopped me from using them: range of healing, cast time, healing priorities. Recent patches helped with at least 2 of those issues.
Thank you all for your answers, I tried testing it myself but other than roughly the range of the ability I couldn’t figure out the healing limit.
I have one more question, Does it prioritise those with lowest health first or whoever is nearest first?

It was unlimited (#, not range) previously.
The patch notes once said “limited to 5 ppl now”.
Another patch note then said “priorize players over NPCs and pets”.
I believe in its 600ish range its max of 5 aoe heal would be rare to find yourself capping unless you have clones out next to you. In that case I believe it prioritizes players then who ever is closer. I haven’t tested it so might want to check it out.
An interesting note if you’re trying to make a mantra heal is that if you charge a mantra, at the end of the charge you can use blink to position yourself next to your allies in time for the heal effect.

And if people don’t stop mentioning that it is a useful trait, next patch note will say “Restorative Mantra can only apply once every 15 seconds”.

Odds are that the next patch won’t say that.
However, that isn’t to say that the change won’t still be made.
I’m just curious how it prioritises people if you have lets say 20 people in range. Lowest health first, nearest first, random?
Restorative Mantras + Mantra of Pain + auto attack on said mantra = merry Christmas, you have a heal bot.

This is how I use it, goes great with power type builds so you do a lot of damage while healing.
