I saw a post in these forums where a player had three illusions + three golems (spawned by his illusions taking hits and his rune set which makes a golem on hit).

Unfortunately I can’t find the post now.

So question — does this work for other runes, specifically Rune of the Pack?

I’d buy these in an instant if my illusions gave me might + fury when hit (5% chance).

Part of me thinks that someone in ANet was thinking “hey, wanna see something funny? Watch this…”

Ran some tests in the mists… couldn’t get them to proc on my clones. Oh well, wishful thinking.

I use the Rune of the Pack since I’ve bought them long time ago and it’s not worth to exchange such an expensive rune. Also the stats are pretty heavy <3.

Oh btt: no, they don’t work. The golem thing is alos just a bug and probably exploit.

Some dungeon armours are bugged whereby even if you replace the runes the dungeon armour seems to keep some of the weird abilities. I think the SE armour and TA armours are bugged like this.

A guildie keeps spawning golems randomly even though he replaced all the runes (I think this was the CoE or SE armour).

This bug only happens on armor sets that come preloaded with runes. I don’t believe such a set exists for runes of the pack.

Exactly why I was looking at Rune of the Pack — it has more power+precision than ANY other upgrade you can slot. Even without a third stat it upgrades a total of 265 pts. The orbs/seals upgrade a total of 288 pts. Pack then throws on the +swiftness and the AoE boon-on-hit chance.

It would have been so much cheaper to just get ruby orbs.

Boon-on-hit is bad for mesmers since you shouldn’t be getting hit much in the first place. 5% chance to proc means you need to get hit 20 times on average per proc; 5 second boon with 10s icd means 50% uptime is the best possible outcome. Realistically, I’d say you won’t get more than 10-20% uptime in practice. Of the boons, Fury is the only one that’s really useful, and a single Ranger or Ele can keep that up for the whole group permanently all by themselves. Or a couple warriors with FGJ…

I’m going to second the ruby orb recommendation.

Pack runes are 64s each today — not a wallet breaker in any stretch of the imagination.

As mention ruby orbs will increase power by 120, precision by 84, crit dmg +12%.

Rune of the pack will increase power by 165, precision by 100.

I went with the runes because to me the extra power and precision outweighed the +crit damage (which I have quite a bit of already). The other rune bonuses are not bad, but not ideal for mesmer.

You’re basically gaining 1%+ crit chance at the cost of 12%+ crit damage. The power gain isn’t that significant either.

I’m using the pack runes too and I have to say the swift-dura increase feels good but is not necessary, aswell the on-hit effect. I just use them because I already got them. Rubies are probably better, especially because they are so much cheaper. Bty, aren’t there any kitten-Orbs? :o
