Runes of the Traveller...any Good?
actually these runes are ridiculously expensive right now and people are buying the guts out of them. I just bought 6 for 35 gold for my thief for his p/d build. These are going to be HUGE for Mesmers. I gotta get another 6 for him

That is good to hear as I just salvaged 5 of them off my warrior’s mf gear and I had two others saved up.
You actually need 7 for a full set. Don’t forget your aquabreather.

If they nerf Perplexity I’d consider these for the 20/20/30/0/0 clone death/Primsatic Understanding builds you’d lose a lot of Condition damage but all 3 of the non straight stat boosts would synergise very well with the builds.

So it seems only fit that I relay some of my experiences using these runes.
I play the 20/20/30 condi build, with lots of boons and lots of conditions. From a first glance, the runes of travel compliment this build exceptionally well, since they both have boon duration and condi duration = nice!
Stat wise, they are pretty poor, offering only 30 stat points (to every stat) and 6% crit dmg, which means you get less condi dmg compared to perplexity (of which I was running earlier). However, this does mean, you get more vitality, toughness and healing power.
The negative implication of less condition power, is heavily outweighed by the fact that you’re given 25% movement speed. I juked/stealthed/ran away from 4 JQ just 15 mins ago, and did so for quite a while (they did end up catching me in the end, kitten buggers ). This was only possible, I think, because of the movement speed, due to not easily being captured/outrun by them.
This is merely my own observation, and since I’m new to the mesmer you can completely forget and ignore my two cents here however, I do believe these runes offer some good things, at least to the condition builds.
I also wrote a response to this in the thread you’re referring to (called “25 percent movement speed”). They should merge these two threads.
My experience with these runes is different, but I’m open to comments from the more experienced mesmers out there.
I also run a condi roamer build and I don’t know which rune is better, traveler or perplexity.
The problem is not with the lost of condi damage. I don’t know what is better, if the confusion stacks from perplexity or the speed from traveler…

I play a 20/20/30 power/precision phantasm build with PU. I just switched to these runes from divinity runes, and I really like them.
Previously, I was always swapping in a focus from inventory to run faster in WvW.
The extra boon duration is really nice because I use a lot of might stacking with this build (sigil of battle, bountiful interruption) along with the PU boons
I brought 4, but currently I’m using 2 (and can gear swap if I wanted).
30 chaos, 2x monk, 2x water, 2x traveller = 75% boon duration while maintaining 80% condition duration.
Good times.
I love them. I had bought a second set just in case I wanted a new armor but decided to sell them since there are plans for changing up other runes that people do not use. So those could be interesting But I would recommend these. I love going fast :P
kittening wonderful on a Mesmer or any class with neither perma swiftness or a runspeed signet. Heck, they are great on classes that have access to a runspeed signet since it frees up a utility slot.
You don’t feel utterly useless in WvW for not having a focus in your offhand anymore.
You know this rune could be very hot on a PU phantasm build with Torch/MI/Decoy/Blink/Veil. if i wasn’t running Divinity runes i’d try this
Staff/Scepter/Torch PU+clone death+boon share build here. Night and day quality of life when running with havoc squads. Was running all boon duration water/monk/water before.
Being able to reliably get in and out of engagement range is nigh immeasurable mitigation and damage boosting.
