SOAC Held what could only be called the first real shoutcasted tournament and it went amazingly well. Check out this post Game Thread for how it went! WE had a great time with an incredible setup. This Saturday will be for those who want to go again or if you didn’t get to go and want to go.

while this does indeed sound fun to play in, it’s boring as hell to watch.

i skipped through some of the all ele and necro matches you have up, and it’s not fun watching a terrible player (no offense to the ele) play tpvp

perhaps get highly ranked or very skilled players to play, or once custom arena’s come up, organize some all 1 class matches in 5v5 up to 8v8 deathmatch.

i think seeing a 5v5 with 20 mesmers/illusions against 5 minionmancers would be pretty entertaining, though onesided.

or 5v5 spirit weapon guardians vs spirit rangers,

you get the idea.

We have a custom arena and this will all be part of this event ;p. So it’s going to be 5 on 5 profession versus profession.

I completely agree with your point on getting some of the best. Unfortunately, they rarely sign up to do anything outside their comfort zone.

As for the horrible ele play, that was me, and I agree it was just awful. Then again, I mainly play Necromancer and Ranger ;p.

Great signup responses as always. We are going to do multiple versions of this, from gimmicky specs fights to standard tournament queueing or working on ways to counter the other professions.

Mesmer screencast (my perspective) will be going up tonight or tomorrow from the previous event.

wads, it is a little hard to watch. It’s like watching a first impressions footage of a game where you’re yelling what he should do, but he’s a movie, he can’t do anything but that. Or a horror film. Which is why I’m wondering if we want to get together ahead of time and practice?

Had a lot of fun the last time, definitely think we’d need to do some practicing, it wasn’t until our last go round or so that we were really starting to work together lol. I’d like to go again but I’m really not sure what my schedule will be like those days, warm weather in my occupation means long busy days so I haven’t been online much lately. If any of you guys want to do some practice rounds sometime just add me to contact list and /w me if I’m on.

It’d be cool that us mesmers get in touch with each other to start practicing and sharing builds?

If you guys haven’t listened to the latest Mesmerized podcast with Grimm/SevenMirror … I’m just at the beginning of it, but it’s already quite a good bit of “Mesmer Talk”. I highly recommend it.

Okay so two big notes of news. We are asking people not to stream the events to help push people to the shoutcasters to give them a chance at practice. You can record it and put it up on youtube later.

Secondly we are going to be grabbing some of the top tournament guys to lend their name to the teams and coach (not play) the players, to talk strategy, specs, and general coaching.

A new post is coming soon that will state more as to why!

We don’t have any plans currently, but you do make a good point. It could jus be possibly difficult to arrange into a good listening format depending on how things go, but that’s definitely an idea we can look into.

If you want to take part in this, but aren’t on the mesmer team bring an alt to one of the professions that need more sign ups!

Anyone who signed up and is not on the Thursday or Sat team, please be ready to sub in or if you have a thief or Ranger alt we need a couple of each :P
