After being inspired by some of osicat’s videos, i decided to try my hand at making a roaming mesmer build. It is pretty much a standard 20/20/0/0/30 build. I use greatsword and sword/torch. I really enjoy the greatsword a lot.

I use the torch because I think as a roamer, I will probably need that extra stealth to escape. As well, I think it is useful for the condi removal because mesmers notoriously lack it. So yeah, the build is in the link.

Was wondering if this would be a good roaming build (i tend to solo roam alot). It seems a bit more tankier then alot of other shatter builds. But I feel like with the abundance of thieves in WvW it is impossible to go glass cannon, unless I want to eat a 20K steal, CnD and Backstab combo. I think 2,500 armor is decent, despite probably still eating a huge chunk of backstab.

Traveler runes i obviously want to keep because I feel it is vital to have the 25% movement speed. As for sigils, I have no idea what to put in whatsoever, so i just put air ones for extra burst and the energy one for extra endurance. But any tips there would be appreciated.

For my utilities I put Mirror Images. I like the combos you can pull off with this skill I find it pretty fun and rewarding. Blink obviously for the kiting and escaping. And null field for boonstripping and condi removal.

I was wondering if I could be successful roaming with such a build, in terms of going toe to toe with most classes without getting owned horribly. Condi roaming seems to be very strong right now so I am concerned that this build won’t hold up.

Also I hear alot that PU is pretty much mandatory for any mesmer roaming build, is that true? Not saying PU is cheesy, but I prefer a challenging, fun and rewarding spec rather then cheesing and facerolling to victory. If I can get a build that uses PU, but still maintains that challenging, fun and rewarding aspect I’d still play it.

It would be appreciated if you guys could help me with my build, offer up suggestions, criticisms, w/e, or even give me some insight on some interesting roaming builds for a mesmer.

I use the exact same gear just a large trait change. Both builds are fun, i use the shatter when im not solo roaming and the PU when i am (it lets me handle 1vX easier).

60% condi reduction usually does the trick for me with torch traited in the rare occasions it doesnt i swap utility 3 for condi clear.

Oh I didn’t know you had a website, I will definitely check that out after work. Was just wondering however how you would deal with dhuumfire terrormancers in full condition. I’ve had one use Signet of Spite on me and a scepter auto attack and the damage was pretty superb and I couldn’t clear the conditions fast enough.

I guess the key is probably not to get condition bombed. It was my first time roaming yesterday on my Mes so I guess I’m not used to the gameplay all that much.

Also does Power Cleanse clear 2 conditions? Or is it just one? I also notice you use Decoy. Any reason or preference of why you would chose this over something like Mirror Images?

Mantra of condi clear clear 2 condition for you and your teammates. Wonderfull in a 5 man hit squad. Also the torch clear 1 condi / spell.

Abut necros, idd dont get condi bombed. A decoy + 1200 y blink make ppl lose you totaly. a few dodges and a phantasm and you ready to nuke.

A version for solo running Shatter Cat Ghost I soon release is 10-20-0-10-30. This with mantra of heal give 4 condi clear ala 2 condis. Heal is on 20 sec cd meaning every 20 sec you can clear 6 × 2 stacks.
