Have any Shatter WvW roamers tested out running with “Sigil of Cleansing” that was added back in September for general WvW roaming? (Remove 1 condition when you swap to this weapon while in combat.)

The standard 4/4/0/0/6 is notorious for not having any condition cleanses from just the traits, so many opt to use the mantra condi cleanse, or the less reliable/situational arcane thievery, rather than the more bursty mirror images.

I believe the best setup with the sigil is to put it on both weaponsets alongside Sigil of Energy (dodge on swap).

Obviously having this sigil alone isn’t going to save you from a well-played condi build, but for WvW roaming it greatly increases one’s quality of life absent any other reliable sources of condi cleanse. Personally, I really hate the long duration treb poison clouds or long duration AC/cannon bleeds that can allow enemies to catch up to me while i’m stuck in combat speed.

Really the question to use it boils down to whether you prefer an extra reliable condi cleanse over some might stacks (not many run Str runes in Wvw) or the extra burst from Air/Fire sigils. If you have been running cleanse mantra and the alternative runes listed above, consider testing out Sigil of cleansing with Mirror Images instead for more burst, but less condi removal.

I usually carry MoR when I play shatter (even though I have generosity on other toon and gosh that’s kitten expensive), partly due to better control on what to cleanse and also I have someone else to remove conditions for me.

Thing with those cleansing sigils is that they are harder to control what to remove. You may want to remove cripple/immobilize but you remove bleed instead. Not that this can’t happen with MoR, its just easier to remove the right condition with 2 condition removals (or 4 if you getting burst). Constantly swapping weapons may compromise your attack set up, so you may not have the same burst speed as you desired with mirror images.

Personally I don’t believe you need any condition cleanse on a 44006 mesmer as you can kite any enemy in such a way that they don’t land the conditions on you in the first place. I mean if you get caught by a large group and you’re outnumbered you’re going to die anyway. But I’d only stick the cleansing on your staff or equivalent and keep your gs for fire + air.
