Should i still make one? or will i be a portal/veil bot. Is it a skill issue, or is it that the class is just unable to have as good dps? what builds are best?

Yes, always reroll to the best class at any given time.

Do you like pink butterflies?

If yes, then roll Mesmer.

If no, then roll whatever flavour of the month class/build you like.

If not being top tier affects your decision, then I guess I should warn you were not exactly mid tier either.

If your logic is to play top tier classes, quit now. Even the mighty will fall.

ehh… mesmer at the moment is in an okay spot in my opinion. We lack a little bit of sustain due to the lack of good condi clearing in most builds and healing other than our skill 6 heal, but overall we aren’t that far off, really. We have stealth, invulns, blocks and teleports for juking as well as good ranged damage. In essence, out of all zerker ranged classes we have the highest survivability. All ready the way they’ll tone down thief and warrior will put mesmer in a much better spot and they will probably buff us in the next balance patch so I’m really hopeful.

sorry Smirgel, but even a sword dagger zerk ranger got better sustain then zerk mesmer.

If mesmer goes zerk, condies will wreck it without any problems. If enemy knows how a mesmer plays, or enemy is a zerk LB ranger. you will be rekt in seconds from bursts.

Mesmer is NOT in a good place, and i can say that as one who fight them rather then play them. They are too easy to hardcounter and only seriously good players will be able to produce even moderate results.

The class has flaws and can’t get above Tier 2 in general. However your skills will decide 60% of your placement. It’s hard to achieve Tier 1 (Top tier), but possible.

Just level all professions to Lv.80, if you worry about being top tier over having fun with a specific profession. That way you can switch from character to character with ease, every time the meta switches as game balancing is done. Go ahead and taste the Flavor of the Month, every month. Make sure you copy other peoples builds instead of trying out things on your own too. And remember, you only need to press each skill once, 1-5, then swap weapons, and repeat. Don’t worry about what it does, just click every skill. An expert player favorite is to roll your face over the keys too. That’s how the pro’s do it.

I haven’t seen anything but nerfs to mesmers so far…

Except maybe Rune of the Traveler, even though that wasn’t mesmer specific. Before that things were even worse.

It’s a psuedo-scale and assigned with contrived methods and follows a blatant pattern of a hearsay/lemming acceptance. Some take it pretty serious obviously despite it being inherently fallacious.
