Anet might as well have indirectly killed raids. Considering the fact that alacrity boosts the DPS of most classes except for thieves and revenants, this alacrity nerf will hurt raids significantly. I’m just speaking hypothetically here so please don’t immediately dismiss me. Considering that a person needs to have at the minimum ascended weapons and trinkets in order to enter a raid group and produce sufficient DPS with the aid of a chronomancer and the 66% reduction in cooldowns from the alacrity buff, to nerf alacrity by 50% basically defeats the purpose of a chronomancer in the raid since chronos are normally brought in as a damage modifier. In order to compensate for the loss in the alacrity buff, anet proposes players to bring in more than one chronomancer into the raid, but since mesmers have such a low damage compared to every other class, by bringing in more than one chronomancer into the raid it will basically lead to an overall loss of damage even with the full effect of the 66% alacrity provided by the two or more chronos. With this nerf to alacrity, people who normally enter the raids with exotic armor and ascended weapons and trinkets will have to get full ascended armor in order to try and compensate for the loss in DPS, but then again that may not be enough since ascended armor only provides a 2% in overall stats, so that means that raid groups would have to stack up in classes that deal high dps like eles and revs, and leave out classes like mesmers and guardians who don’t produce a lot of DPS themselves. If anet was trying to empathize not stacking more than one class in raids, they clearly missed the mark with this nerf. Like I said, I’m just speaking hypothetically so if I missed something, please correct me and if you have any comment please say them because I’d like to hear what you say.

Raids will still be fine, and chrono will still be an essential part of raid teams.

What you’re going to see, though, is a lot of raid groups taking a hard look at the lower performing members of the team, and ditching them for more burnzerkers.

Because raid groups should never be pushed to have more than one of any given profession. Unless it’s a burnzerker.

That makes sense, but didn’t anet said they wanted every class to be viable in raids. I can understand trading in other players based on their class for more burnzerkers based on the huge DPS they can put out, but that will still lead to a low diversity in raid composition.

By every class, they meant burn zerkers.
