Some random kitten ideas
Had another kitten idea.
Blurred frenzy being a block+reflect idea or make it a invul skill again >_>
Some takes on those ideas:
- Blurred Frenzy: yeah, I’d really love this to go back to full invulnerability. If necessary, rethink the -CD traits (I think they’re stupid in general, game-wide). But Blurred Frenzy was so awesome because it forced the target to move, not because of it’s raw damage.
- Mirror Blade: No issues with this, sorry. I like the slow projectile speed to show off, and the damage being spread makes GS somewhat more adept at handling groups.
- Mind Stab: I’d increase the radius. Blast finisher would be too much IMO, as GS already has a projectile and a whirl finisher.
- Scepter AA: Rather, just make it advance the moment the shot goes off. Removes the whole distance-dependent cast speed.
- DE: Still not sure whether this shouldn’t just be removed. I want my clones to be useful without this bandaid of a trait. My version would make a clone dodge exactly 180° opposite of me, but disperse after the dodge ends. Fools enemies into the wrong direction.
- Mantras: I’d put them back at 1 charge, powerful as in the past. That’d fix the power-per-cast problem and make proper frontloading possible again. To alleviate the HM issue, redesign the trait to allow skipping the recharge-CD if charging the Mantra again within 5 seconds after using it’s charge.
Rest I pretty much agree with.
Blurred Frenzy
Still a great skill but the nerf was certainly overdone. The new distortion effect is also pretty misleading because it only counts as evade. While making it a real invulnerability again might be too strong, they could at least reduce the number of hits to make it less affected by Retaliation. Right now, it can get you killed even when at full health.
Deceptive Evasion
Not going to happen. Way too easy access to clone generation for shatter builds. This way you could go 30/x/x/x/30 which might be extremly overpowered. I’d rather see this trait gone so that clone generation can be rebalanced without it. The new DE could cause Confusion to nearby enemies when the Mesmer dodges.
Mind Stab
The cooldown is too low for being a blast finisher. It rather see the radius increased or an additional boon ripped. In terms of blast finishers Prestige has to be fixed first. Right now, it is just not usable. If another blast finisher would be added I’d like to see it on Staff#4. The cooldown is acceptable and it would open up more supportive game play for staff users (e.g. blasting own Chaos Storm).

Fair enough, if it distortion traits would affect it(and the signet distortion trait), it would be awesome

I agree, just trying in ways that arenanet might actually change things. They seem to prefer quick and lazy way to fix things.

I don’t think it’s too low cd actually. But perhaps of blast finisher/addition boon ripped how about specific boon(s) removed? like it prioritize on stability for example, altho i think the cooldown would be way to low then :P

The Wiki lists 16 burst finisher weapon skills. Out of those – I didn’t check all of them – Mind Blast would probably be 3rd or 4th lowest cooldown wise. Most skills have a cooldown of 20-30s which is at least twice as high.
Besides that, I personally do not feel that a blast finisher would fit the theme of the GS. The effects you receive from blasting fields are rather supportive. The only one fitting the GS would be Might when blasting fire fields. The other effects are way more aligned with the role of the Staff. It would also make Staff#4 less unappealing. Let’s be honest… that skill has become quite underwhelming since the Protection got nerfed.
