I’m not a level 67 mesmer and enjoying playing the class probably more than any other class I’ve played in any other games.
But after reading on the forum and playing in-game I had some thoughts on certain mesmer skills.

Winds of Chaos
I love this skill with the random conditions and the bounce but.. As most of you know when in events things usually progress rapidly. Mobs are taken down quickly so you have to zap them quickly to get in on the action, but the speed of the projective of this skill is just so agonizingly slow. Am I the only one feeling this way about it? I think it would be great if the projective speed on this would be improved so it both travels to the target quicker and bounces quicker.

Phase Retreat
I do love this skill as well, just poof gone and a clone stands in my place. But always the same. While it works in PvE, I found that it’s rather useless in PvP since nearly everyone knows by know that the one in front is the clone. Why not instead make it something similar to Mirror Images, that it randomly places the mesmer and the clone at two different places within a small certain area, possibly removing enemy target from the mesmer as well.

Blurred Frenzy
Just a quick question about this, why aren’t mesmers able to move while doing this one? A lot of the time when using this skill it just misses because the target took one step away.

Now illusions in general, they’re great when I’m out and about in the world, doing PvE by my lonesome but when I dive into a dungeon or do WvW my clones just die so fast I can’t even shatter them, even with signet of illusions. Why are they so fragile?
Illusions do no real damage as far as I know, why not do it so illusions have 50%, or even 100%, of the mesmers health so they can survive long enough to reach their shatter target.
Phantasams deal damage so they should be fragile to make it a fair tradeoff.

Another thought, mostly about the whole confusing other players in PvP, why not make the illusions randomly dodge and run around their targets to mimic player movement to make it a bit harder for players to find the real mesmer?

Just some short thoughts I had about it all.
Keep in mind I’m an average player, I’m no expert so keep that in mind if you want to rage at me for getting things wrong. :p

I like some of your ideas, but i think they would be a bit too over powered. Especially if we were able to move during blurred frenzy… it roots you in place because you get the 2 seconds of invulnerability, which is Prime…. now if it didnt have the evade mechanic, then id bet we would be able to move… Its on such a low cooldown that ive caught myself using it strictly as an evade, when not in range. Nothing beats 2 seconds of godmode every 8 seconds…

I also think winds of chaos being ‘faster’ would be unfair… especially when you can pop out a couple of clones + a phase retreat and stack up ALOT of conditions fast, while sustaining some awesome buffs for allies in the area. If this whole process was faster, i think it would be a bit of an unfair advantage for us mesmer’s.

As for your phase retreat fix, i rather prefer it as an instant dodge back, but you make a good point, everyone ’think’s the one in the back is you, but take a few steps forward and get side by side with your clone, and the guessing game ensues. that being said, this is extremely situational, more often then not i use it for the ‘blink’ mechanic, and quick clone generation, especially traited. I tend to continue runing forward through a cast anyways, and usually end up standing right next to my clone…

Now, your idea about clones having increased health, i like, but i doubt it will happen… even if they were bumped to 50% of our HP, everyone would gear vitality and the clone zerg would be OPed i think… Instead of increasing their HP, i would rather Anet impliment some randomness to who is targeted once a mesmer uses a clone ability… for example, 50% of the time the clone is targeted instead of the player being targeted… hell id prefer if it wiped their target all together, but again, this would be much to strong i think, so a simple random target i think would suffice.

Then again, i think we’re fine where we are at… im scared of the nurf bat, so i say if it aint quite broke, please dont try and fix it, Yet.

afaik if you time your forward movement with phase retreat you can spawn at the same position as your clone.
blurred frenzy makes you invulnerable for the duration, and people already complain about that
