WvW Roaming with Mesmer
Thanks, I didn’t see the stream and the reddit doesn’t mention it. Thats better.
:) Nevermind
People are drooling over condition interrupt and rightfully so, but it just doesn’t feel lockdown-y enough for me. I’m more hyped about the possibility of a Chronomancer build using the insanely buffed Domination tree. Let’s not forget that Confounding Suggestions, Furious Interruption, and Power Block are all buffed, in the same tree, and not mutually exclusive. This is insane. Run those with either Dueling or Chaos and the Chronomancer tree, and people will be helpless for ages.
My main dilemma is whether to run Dueling or Chaos with a power interrupt Chronomancer lockdown spec. I’m leaning slightly towards Dueling. CI is great, but the other traits just don’t feel like they give that much.

I realize that some of this will most likely change, and I sure hope it does.
But I haven’t seen anyone comment on the Confounding Suggestions change. It shows the trigger chance as 100%. So EVERY daze is a stun??
One sentence they want to make the GW2 Mesmer a very high skill based class like in GW1. Then they give us something like that?
Wouldn’t this be better?
“When you interrupt a foe with a daze, the foe is stunned. Increased daze duration.”
And whats up with the 100% duration increase on PU? Apparently, ANet has an itching and it can only be scratched with “MORE STEALTH”.
Its really great that these trait changes on all the classes are basically “profession reviews”. They can fix things, clean up unused traits and really do something good. But I look at some of the things (particularly eng, thief, warrior) and really wonder if they even play this game at all?
If Confounding Suggestions actually comes out like that I’ll be so happy. It’s not like interruptions are THAT easy to come by, you’d have to watch your opponent intently, which comes down to skill. Plus missing dazes due to stability/evades/invulns brings us to medium to long cooldowns.
..being a cynical forecaster.
..being a doom-monger….and being a hopeless jinxer.
Another thing that comes to mind: if CS is going to be on nearly every interrupt built, is CI as necessary? Stuns already immobilize, and Dueling gives you more useful traits overall. CI is still nice, but I’m having a hard time justifying taking a whole tree for one trait when another viable tree is better overall.

It will depend on your aspired playstyle and weapon set up, really. Since CI was combined with BI there definitely is a reason to get it anyway. If you run Staff Chaos is still the line to go to. If you don’t you might as well go for something else.
It’s a bit hard to judge anything more than the above since we don’t know how Chronomancer utilities will work. If you don’t need MoD as a Chronomancer there might actually be no reason to go for Duelling. Unless Chronomancers can be played with a condition focus. We will have to see.
I know I’m going hardcore condilock … already was using a 0/4/6/0/4, so the redone traits are going to make things pretty interestin’
As for Chronomancers, depends on what kinda things their associated traitline gets. I’d at least give it a whirl, tbh.
Other 80s: Any but Warrior
Dude.
Bruh.
… Bruh!!
With IP baseline, Lockdown will be the new Mesmer meta. Shatter builds now have very little reason to spec into illusions and CI was already RIGHT behind it.
I don’t usually make such grand claims, but DOM/DUEL/CHAOS will be the new tpvp Mesmer meta unless the CHRONO tree is glorious.
Chrono tree (or whatever it will be called) will very likely be glorious in order to sell the expansion.
I’m fully expecting all classes’ Elite Specs to be more powerful than some of the base trees intially to encourage people to buy HoT.
This will then be followed by some hardcore nerfs over the 6months-1year after release. :p
