Staff mesmers in dungeons..?
I happen to be a condition staff Mesmer.
" a lot of phase retreats and auto attacking" can just about sum it up indeed. I think most of your mental energy and spells go into kiting and making sure your clone placement is good. I’ve found it to be fairly involving myself, but I lack another full level 80 with which to compare it, sadly.
Other than situational portal, and null field….what utility do you bring to the group?
I run this 90% of times in dungeons. I’m full exo rabid gear/rune of undead. Secondary MH sword/Focus. I set up 3 clones and let them rain auto attacks with 33% crit chance to inflict a stack of bleeding (sharper images) and let them melt down the HP bar while I do other things (rez people, set up reflect, hit switches, kite etc).
For some bosses I do just end up standing there, but I think that can happen with any class to a certain degree due to some bosses being easily controlled or poorly designed.
If starting with a staff…
1) Chaos Field + Phase Retreat + Chaos Armour
2) Phantasmal Warlock
3) Dodge
4) Shatter + Weapon Swap (6 Might stacks)
5) Phantasmal Duelist + Feedback + Mirror Image
6) Shatter + Weapon Swap (6 Might stacks)
7) Repeat/adapt as needed.
What kind of spec/stat priority/utility spells would be used for a support build?
For PVE I like Glamour for support. It opens up four Ethereal Fields (2 Glamours, Chaos Field and Time Warp) for Confusion (with projectile and whirl finishers) and Chaos Armour combos (blast and leap finishers).
