State of mesmer
Just get a revenant, provides more utility and higher dps now than mesmer.
I feel in PvP mesmers still find a build that’s competitive.
do you play much in PvP? Have you read the changes to thief?
We are a solid pick in pve. Even tough our passive damage only slightly outdamages our lack of personal and phantasmal damage – we still are wanted for everything – raids, fractals, dungeons, jp portals.

Thiefs cant counter something that do not exists. Mes/chrono wont exist in pvp after these changes unless anet is hiding from us some amazing 50% or better damage buffs. Which, given the history of ‘balancing’ mesmers.. yea.
Im expecting at most another +5% buff, but they will prob need to compensate it somehow. Imo they should cut quickness effectiveness by half, its already too strong as is. And remove distortion on F4, put aegis instead.
My gut feeling says that chrono is still worth bringing in a raid, it’s just going to be much more essential to do flawless rotations.
PvP mesmer is finished though, that’s pretty much guaranteed.
If you rebalance the alacrity due to a group or raid issue. You are affecting chrono personal dps too. You are nerfing explicity the chrono line without increase the personal dps of the chrono. Do you balanced the chrono’s trait line around the alacrity? If you did that… Why don’t you rebalance the chrono trait line to increase the personal dps of the chrono to be fair?
And say that the Chrono increase the group … by 66%? Really few knowledge in statistics I can see here. One single Chrono can’t do that Karl… not 100% uptime. So not.

What will a 2 second increase on confusion even do….
Nothing can replace the confusion lost through Ineptitude procing off the blinds from Chaos Armor…

Honestly I see a resurgence of condi mesmers. That’s the hard counter to all melee. Theif might cause problems for everything else, but at least we can face roll them with our condi build.

I feel like what Anet is conveying is just malicious intent towards people who play and love mesmer. Pre-HoT mesmer was hardly even viable, and until HoT, no one even wanted mesmer for instances.
Now we get a few weeks of viability, a few weeks of actually being wanted in groups, and then booted right out again?

Thing is that you’re going to have necros, maybe 2 in most every match. This means that you’re hardcountered sorta 100% of the time.

Yeah I’m so not used to having a counter. I was completely wrecking stealth camping thieves in WvW passively shutting down over half my weapon skills while they regen health and resources.
Hard counters shouldn’t be to the extreme thief was to mesmer and by that the counter shouldn’t ever be in the same role. Thief and mesmer were roamers in WvW but when one has more stealth, more mobility, can passively shut down the other class and is a straight up better pick, why would you ever use a mesmer?
The best example in GW2 of a counter to thief was medi guard. Slow, didn’t have too much in combat or out of combat mobility and no stealth. Thieves and other classes it countered could out run it but were toast if they stuck around too long. Medi guard didn’t completely shut a thief down from doing what it did, just forced it to move on, learnt that the hard way.

I sincerely hope they buff staff as and torch burning otherwise even condi isn’t going to cut it.
Or they do something radical and make scepter 2 block multiple attacks and inflict aoe torment. Or reinsert Confusing Combatants so MH Sword will be useable in condi builds.
I want to run the moat cancerous build possible after this – I don’t feel guilty/embarrassed anymore, even if it might be boring to play.
