Little frustrated with Mesmer’s lack of build depth. Decided to rewrite the profession just for fun. Maybe the developers will be inspired. Oh, I do like the class! I just feel like we have been nerfed 3 consecutive patches in a row, and haven’t received much in terms of replacement traits/skills. The below changes would open up a variety of builds for all modes of play without breaking game play. Maybe the topic will be fun to discuss.

Domination

Minor Traits

Adept – Dazzling moved to Adept Tier from Master

Master – Illusions of Vulnerability: Illusions inflict vulnerability on critical hits.

Grand Master – Confounding Suggestions: 20% Chance to apply 1 second stun
whenever you daze a target.

Major Traits

1.        Mental Torment: No Changes.
2.        Mantra Mastery: No Changes.
3.        Rending Shatters: No Changes.
4.        Crippling Dissipation: No Changes.
5.        Signet Mastery: No Changes.
6.        Shattered Illusions: No Changes.
7.        Confusing Enchantments: No Changes.
8.        Cleansing Conflagration: Now effects up to 5 players. Radius:
9.        Great Sword Training: Increase range of Great Sword Skills. (+150) Reduces Recharge of Great Sword Skills by 20%

11.     *New* Dazing Strike: As Halting Strike except the following: Deal Damage when dazing a foe.

Grand Master – Confusing Combatants: No Changes

Major Traits

1.       Cleansing Inscriptions : Activating a Signet removes 2 conditions.
2.        Empowered Illusions: No Changes.
3.        Retaliatory Shield: Gain 5 seconds of retaliation when you block an attack.
4.        Blade Training: No Changes.
5.        Desperate Decoy: No Changes.
6.        Protective Mantras: Gain 3 seconds of protection when you cast a mantra. (Cool Down: 10 seconds)
7.        Phantasmal Fury: No Changes.
8.        Blurred Inscriptions: Gain 2 seconds of Distortion when you activate a signet. (Cool Down: 10 Seconds)
9.        Duelist Discipline: No Changes.
10.      Deceptive Evasion: No Changes.
11.      Furious Daze: Gain 3 seconds of quickness when you daze a foe. (Cool Down: 15 Seconds)
12.     *New* Concussive Strike: Deal 20% more damage to target that has confusion on them.

4.        Debilitating Dissipation: No Changes.
5.        Retaliatory Demise: No Changes.
6.        *New* Lingering Malady: Winds of Chaos, and Chaos Storm have a 30% chance to inflict Torment (2 stacks) for 3 seconds on critical hit.
7.        Master of Manipulation: Manipulations have increased range and 20% reduced cool down.
8.        Mirror of Anguish: No Changes.
9.        Bountiful Daze: Gain Might (3 stacks) for 5 seconds and a random boon when you daze a foe.
10.     Chaotic Dampening: No Changes.
11.     Chaotic Daze: Inflict Blindness, Torment (3 stacks), and Cripple for 5 seconds when you daze a target.
12.     Prismatic Understanding: Stealth Skills last 1 second longer (This benefit affects allies when you apply stealth). You gain Protection, Aegis, and Swiftness for 3 seconds when you are cloaked.

There’s way too many things i would like them to change but the most important or the ones i’d preferred if they changed before others would be~~ Mind Stab, iLeap that spawns on target instead of leaping to it, Eather Bolt, Confusion Images, Winds of Chaos vulnerability removed and projectile velocity increased, Phantasmal Warden become ground targeting, the Prestige CD reduced to 20sec, Chill from chaos storm increased to 3sec or removed completely… i want daze to proc more often and the same goes for poison and weakness, they need to increase duration per hit cuz 1 or 2 sec does nothing, iMage~~~~get out of my game!!!, Siren’s Call boon from clones fixed, iWhaler… can i have a phantasm that deals good damage instead? Removed that stupid confusion and let it hit 8 times like iDuelist. and when are they changing Spatial Surge sound effect? Its annoying as kitten and no1 likes it, change it already, it doesn’t takes 3 months of preparation…

Fact: every Thief tells you to “l2p” when the subject is to nerf stealth.

i see some interesting suggestions here:

agree with arcane thievery radius increase and cd needs to be adjusted too.

increase confusion more than 25%. i’d say at least 33 percent or unnerf it as the bb nerf and the so called bug fix already destroyed a ton of stacking ability! if u allow other classes to burn, posion and bleed u to death with such high numbers, then give us confusion back!

mantras need rework, in wvw its not practical to be forced to channel

unnerf clones in wvw as we cant even shatter anymore as clones and phantasms die instantly in a zerg.

adjust tw cooldown. it doesnt last very long, has been nerfed to 50 percent and our cd is 240 sec……wayyyyyy to high

mass in visibility should last 1 sec longer as it is an elite

remove rng based conditions. i’d rather be able to spec into a viable condition than being lucky if it maybe applies something useful to enemy

less rng based boons its annoying!

new elite skills! i wouldnt mind losing darn moa!

if u want us to use mantras, then get on it and makem useful for wvw as well.

i like HorridForm idea of the signet of inspiraton and chaos signet

most importantly though: balance spvp and wvw differently!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! stop destroying wvw mesmers with your kitten spvp mania. and btw even there u did a terrible job at balancing.

I like some of what you said and didn’t like some other things but the one thing I will say is your Scepter ideas are WAY OP. A condition Mesmer would be unstoppable when our clones also give a stack of Torment per hit. I won’t say I would love that change but it is simply too much.

A thing I haven’t seen anyone asking (maybe it’s only me) would be to have those 3 pink dots above the action bar to display, once you hover it with the mouse, the name (or the type) of illusions active in the world. When a fight gets very long I find difficult remembering which illusion I have out. That could help

      I guess this doesn’t work with the current system. Condition’s damage is bound to malice and not traits, runes or food. Better make it + duration
  • Dueling
    • Protective Mantras: Gain 3 seconds of protection when you cast a mantra. (Cool Down: 10 seconds)
      We don’t need toughness or protection, we need stability or aegis here
    • Furious Daze: Gain 3 seconds of quickness when you daze a foe. (Cool Down: 15 Seconds)
      So, pulling and pushing does interrupt but shouldn’t trigger it anymore?
      12. New Concussive Strike: Deal 20% more damage to target that has confusion on them.
      You put confusion damage to domination GM to dueling GM. The original condition line is illusion. I expect you want to run a 30/30/20/20/30 build then.
  • Inspiration
    • Menders Purity: Remove a condition from allies when you heal.
      I think Mender’s Purity is strong enough. Especially with HealingMantra.
    • Forceful Mantras: Create an area of effect knock back when casting a Mantra. (Cool Down: 10 Seconds) Radius: 180, Damage Coefficient: 0.65, Cannot Critical
      Mantra builds then also require a 30/30/0/30/0 build ?
  • Scepter
    Giving #1 2 torments and 1 confusion is pretty much overpowered
  • Sword
    You really wanna increase blurred frenzy further?
  • Arcane Thievery
    No, I don’t need to stand in melee to get the boons. Especially not 3 seconds and ask the opponent politely to also not move
  • Mantras
    They are fine the way you are. Actually, I’d prefer a longer casttime. If you can’t micromanage your gameplay, don’t use them. Giving them a 1s casttime would make them like other skills. And especially do no increase MoPs recharge from 1s to 15s!

I’d disagree with most of your suggestions.

I like it, but it doesnt make sense to put a support skill in the domination tree >_<.

It wouldnt be in line with the ranges of other weapons from other professions… Maybe making the damage treshholds for range 300 lower could be a thing?

This one is veeeeery underwhelming, needing 5 dazes for a single stun, no thanks. Id suggest “stun a foe whenever you daze or interupt them for 1 second (5 second cooldown)”

12. New Concussive Strike: Deal 20% more damage to target that has confusion on them.

Imagine this trait in a shatter build. Due to a trait the target will have confusion on them whenever you shatter, which basically increases brst damage by 20%, too high if you ask me.

1. Chaotic Revival: No Changes.

I think this trait should give us permanent chaos armor whenever were downed, but the internal cooldown of it activating is 2 seconds. Just a random suggesiton i jsut thought of though.

6. New Lingering Malady: Winds of Chaos, and Chaos Storm have a 30% chance to inflict Torment (2 stacks) for 3 seconds on critical hit.

I feel like this trait is in teh wrong tree, Duelling is for critical hits. Maybe a trait could be like “inflict torment whenever you block, chill or cripple a foe.” blocking, chilling and crippling happens alot with a staff.

9. Bountiful Daze: Gain Might (3 stacks) for 5 seconds and a random boon when you daze a foe.

That is overkill O.o. Maybe we can instead merge the 20% longer trait with one of those nerfed confusion traits? “Glamour skills last 20% longer and inflict blind when they are cast.”

please dont remove the cleanse shatter, im loving it :/.

Youre aware that you nerfed this trait? It currently makes confusion last 33% longer.

This trait is already very powerfull, id prefer the effect before this change actually.

Oh, come on.

That would turn it in a glamour. I think transferiing stolen boons would be fun to copy to allies with a trait though.

We would be way too good at healing allies, not sure if its overpowered or not.

Power Spike: Radius 180.

I like the radius, but i wouldnt use mantra ofpain for damage due to the damage simply being pitiful. With the cooldwon it also loses its healing >_<.

Well i like it, but i dont think it fits with the mesmer profession.

Suddenly solo players would use it, maybe even team players but they would never activate the signet unless theyre built for it… Maybe retain the passive we currently have, but your movement speed is increased by 10%, and an adittional 5% for each illusion you dont have? Well i dont know actually :/.

Disclaimer: I didn’t read all the notes, but the call for a sword nerf hit me. Nerf the sword again and buff the scepter because OP loves scepter and wants all the mesmers play scepter? No.

Scepter deserves a rework to make a proper main hand condition weapon, but the sword has already been nerfed a lot, stop calling for nerfs for your fellow mesmers that don’t like condition builds.

minor Domination Traits should be change, all of them
-Illusion of Vulnerability and Dazzling look good on paper but does not work, minor traits should not force the player to play as an interrupter, move them to major and buff them like Halting Strike, this way we can have option to choose as an interrupter or not.
-Wastrel’s Punishment, might as well as non-existing, sure inactive foes do exist but they do when they died

minor Dueling trait
-Confusing Combatants, please fix this skill

minor Chaos trait
-Chaotic Transference, fine in pve because we can stack toughness, in pvp? max condition damage we can have is 82
major Chaos trait
-Chaotic Interruption < Bountiful Interruption, for a major grandmaster traits it need some serious buff

minor Inspiration trait
-Vengeful Images, reverse it back

Mantra mechanice need some rework to make it more useful
