Superior Sigil of Tormenting.
As far as I heard, it’s a single torment on a 7 second cooldown that lasts like 5 seconds. So, no.

Heard it was AoE, thought might have been useful. Cheers.
I have 14s AoE torment on 7s cd. Just another condition they have to remove between scepter block applications.
What build are you running Zen? Sceptre, Torment Runes & Sigil?

Scepter/Focus, Sword/Torch The tormenting sigils are only on swap of full stacks, however. I would never use them otherwise.
Cheers, was thinking same thing would only use after full stack achieved, I more thinking build wise of use in a glamour/confusion build for zerg use, I know with Rabid I can proc Superior Sigil of Fire reliably so I will give Torment a try and see how I go.
Cheers.
im using it with my tormenting runes and glamour hybrid. u get 1 stack of torment on 5 targets and no it last up to 14 seconds with the runes. im quiet happy with it. plus i give 2 more stacks aoe torment on heal and if the person with now 3 stacks hits me while i use scepter 2 block, i get 8 stacks of torment on him.

I mean, it’s an interesting sigil, but on-crits interfere with energy sigils, so I won’t ever consider using it.
Had some great success last night, procced consistently with Rabid Gear, between Confusion and Torment was a great mix, good assistance in the Zerg, was very happy with the results. Thanks for all the replies.
It’s hard to get a true feel for how this sigil is doing compared to it’s major competitor- Superior Sigil of Earth- in the field. Torment is a rare condition and gets its own stack, making it very visible when it procs whereas Superior Sigil of Earth procs “invisibly” most of the time, being buried underneath other bleeds the Mesmer is creating.
However, the math I was able to run revealed that Superior Sigil of Earth is still far superior to Superior Sigil of Torment- even in cases where the target is constantly moving.
Basically, the issues are the cooldown and the chance to proc. While the torment lasts longer and can do more damage in a single application than the bleed, Superior Sigil of Earth has twice the chance to proc compared to Superior Sigil of Torment and has a cooldown of only two seconds (compared to Sigil of Torment’s 7).
There are however a few instances where Superior Sigil of Earth is inferior to Superior Sigil of Torment:
1. When the target already has max or near max bleed stacks. Applying additional bleeding can be redundant and quickly replaced by other players rendering Sigil of Earth useless. This case most often happens underwater and against world bosses.
2. When fighting 4 or more creatures. According to my the work I did, over the course of 14 seconds of combat, Superior Sigil of Earth does about 74% more damage than Superior Sigil of Torment. However, Superior Sigil of Torment does have an AoE component. In a zerg situation or battle fighting multiple creatures (again, 4 or more) the AoE nature of Superior Sigil of Torment allows it to out preform the single target Superior Sigil of Earth in terms of total damage done to targets.
Yeah, my recent experience (I only run this Sigil when rolling with Zerg) is that due to the high level of conditions being output by Zerg, the AoE natureof the Sigil and the Confusion I am putting out (all about AoE), makes it worth while, a good analysis, thanks for the input.
It works for me because it places one more condition on targets that they have to cleanse. Spreads the ’lovin so to speak. Mind you, I have torment on my staff and earth on my GS.
The hybrid approach works for me.
Bit weak, better choices out there imo.
Superior Rune of Tormenting
- (1): +28 Condition Damage.png Condition Damage
- (2): 15% Torment Duration
- (3): +55 Condition Damage.png Condition Damage
- (4): 15% Torment Duration
- (5): +100 Condition Damage.png Condition Damage
- (6): 15% Torment Duration and AoE 2 Stacks of Torment on Heal (20s cooldown)
This rune is terrible, even for a condition build. I can image some uses in PvP, but definitly not PvE. We have exactly one torment skill wich shouldn’t be the main source of damage. It’s a defensive ability. Also additional 2 stacks of torment on heal are meh, and with 20s cd its just weak.
EDIT: Nevermind this post – it’s about the sigil, not the rune. My bad >.<

Not talking about a rune… Sigil is what we are discussing, the one that goes in your weapon…

I agree with everythin here, just one thing.
Illusionary counter is best used as an offensive skill in a condiion build, it can do up to 8k damage in Spvp :P. a single block doesnt really do alot.

WAAAAAAAAAHHHHH My bad -.-‘’ In another games you’d put runes into weapons I’m sorry, what does the sigill give you?

AoE Torment 30% chance on crit.
but take into consideration that the only way to put it is that you are the one who do the dmg and not your illusions
Yep, in Zerges clones, phantasms don’t last long anyway, normally dropping on spawn due to AoE, with the build I use for Zerg play, it procs consistently and adds to AoE for tagging. If I run Shatter build I would use Superior Sigil of Fire once stacks achieved on Perception, this is no different for Zerg Condition build, once Corruption maxed switch to Torment.
Well why don’t you build then with all those beautiful aoe “when an illusion dies” things <3 ?

Who says I haven’t? Anyway my question was answered thanks for the input, all, I am happy with the Sigil, in the zerg build.
