i just hit 80 on my mesmer while running mainly the same shatter and phantasm based build for almost the entire way. i feel like the mesmer has tremendous opportunities to open up the field for teammates to do crazy things with DPS, and want to give a more supportive role a try with this awesome class. my favorite part about the mesmer is the ability to appear to be in many places at once, through illusions and teleports. i want to combine this with the control and pseudo control aspects of the mesmer (illusionary cripples, blinds and stuns, etc) to open up the battlefield for the rest of my team while supporting them with boons and condition removal.
so, what’s worked for you guys? i’m guessing i want to keep as many illusions on field as possible, to diversify enemy aggro best i can. crippling dissipation seems like an obvious choice. but do i want more toughness, or do i want more vitality? is there a way to coax enough healing to make healing power worth an investment? any trait combos that might help me out? i’m testing theories in game as well but i’d love to hear the forum’s input.
