As most mesmers probably do, when my currently targeted is at low health, i switch to a target that will live a bit longer to cast my phantasms.

I noticed that I often have to wait a second or two before casting. Otherwise the illusions are cast on the previous target.

Is this intended? Is this a bug? I have a rather crappy internet connection; could that be the reason why the game sometimes doesnt ‘accept’ my new target?

(Never had such problems with my necromancer; then again, with dagger/staff and wells, most of its abilities were (ground target-)AoE)

I think you might be mixing some different … “features” of the game.

- There is an “autoattack on target change” checkbox in the option menu, but I have no clue what exactly it does.
- If you change a target (tab or LMB) you autoattack (usually #1) does not change to the new target. You’ll keep attacking the previous. Once you command an attack/ skill (pressing [1~0] or RMB) the new target will be attacked. This should include all (?) Illusion-summoning skills)
- Dueling X – Clone on dodge. This trait creates a clone each time you dodge during combat (assuming you have 2- Phantasms). Those Clones are unfortunately not set at your taget, but the closest to them.

I’d wonder if those abilities suffer from connection issues. I’ve seen other server-side features, which would’ve fitted client-side before.

I haven’t noticed this yet, and I use ibeserk a lot. maybe try testing this on the golems in the heart of the mists?

If you turn that feature off, you’ll keep auto-attacking even when switching targets. In other words, you’ll start auto-attacking the new target which isn’t always what you want
