Q:
“Even with the energy you took from me, my power is still far greater than your own. "
Q:
So for all you fellow plant people out there I have a quick question. Do you use healing seed as your main heal ever or do you still stick with ether fest?
My thoughts are if I am running solo I would use Ether Feast but if I am in a roaming/zerg WvW group or sPVP I would use healing seed to provide more support. Thoughts? Experiences?
Nueshak, Ether Feast is what I recommend using. Unfortunately, Healing Seed does very little for support heals and is lacking when you need your own self heal to stay up. I run a glass spec in WvWvW, sPvP as well as Dungeons and i’m competitive in each. While others run different and effective builds, I dont find myself wanting.
Healing seed is just not a good trade off for any builds i’ve used (never ran a defensive build fyi) sooo there is my input
My current spec:
20 Domination – I,X
20 Dueling – II, X
0 Chaos
0 Inspiration
30 Illusions – II, I, XI
Healing Seed would work well with 15 points in Chaos for the 2s Protection whenever you receive regeneration. It’s long duration makes it extremely potent.
However, the fact that it’s linked to a a destroyable unit makes it rather unreliable.
Take Root is amazing for leveling though. It was my go to skill whenever I was in a pinch. Between the plants and your illusions the enemy will barely touch you, all while taking stacks of bleeding. It also doubles as an extra dodge in a pinch.
I can see why you might want to use it in a zerg, but the only times I could think of that would make that helpful is during a big battle, where the seed will likely be near insta-killed.
Maybe it’s my greed talking, but I always take ether feast. I think it’s more important to know I can take care of myself than to try and take unreliable care of my allies.
Also, it’s hardly on topic, but I agree with Dastion, take root is awesome.
I <3 defensive elites.
I use neither, i’m one of those weird people that uses mirror as their main heal… Granted i haven’t played a sylvari mesmer since Beta so the healing seed might’ve been buffed, but i really didn’t see it as -that- good, it was like healing spring… except weaker, by quite a bit… and then mirrors just up more often and yeah…
Thanks for the feedback folks. I had a feeling most folks didn’t use it even if the idea sounds good on paper. (get it…tree people….paper!) slaps knee
I think people really under estimate the healing seed, if you are preparing for a large battle and you have a few engineers in your guild here is what you should do.
This is one of the most useful combo’s IF you have time to prepare, as you can get 3+ minutes of regeneration and protection from this combo. In a large battle 3+ minutes of protection and regenation for your allies can make or break fights in a huge way.
3+ minutes of regeneration and protection from this combo
I had the understanding that buff duration caps out at 1 minute when smaller durations are stacked up.

The tool tip only says 1 minute but, I’ve had this particular combo last a long time. far longer than a single minute.
For clarification: I and an Elementalist stacked swiftness for about 2+ minutes before it ever wore off. I don’t know if this is intended but, something funky is happening with buffs stacking from multiple sources.
