Taunt for Chronomancer.
They said that the mesmer should be a character that does not want to get hit and removed retaliation with that reason. I personally like that decision and they would go against it if they added taunt to the mesmer. Sure for some builds it could be fun but for a lot of zerker stats using build taunt would be not as cool as a stun. For me it’s like this:
Stun>Taunt>Daze>Immobilize
stun controlls movement AND skills and is an effect
taunt controlls movement AND skills but is a condition
immobilize controlls only movement but is a condition
daze controlls only skills and is an effect
I like the shield having a stun better than having a taunt.
Next reason is that taunt can be avoided by using resistance.

I could see a Phantasm (perhaps a utility-type, like PDefender) running with that ability.
Then, you’re not “personally” getting hit, but you could Confuse/Torment someone and run them around a bit.

Yeah
Could give the shield #4 skill that spawns a phantasm have its skill being a shield smash that taunts the enemy (making it attack the phantasm. Which also keeps the enemy from hitting you.)
Sure it’s not a stun. But for condition builds in PvP it might be great.
Either way, i’m loving everything we saw of the Chronomancer so far.
I wouldn’t have minded Taunt on a phantasm or two, either as a trait or an extra bonus to our Phantasmal Defender.
I’m excited to see what specs will be popping up with Taunt and Slow. So far, Chrono and Dragonhunter don’t have much in the way of either.
Yeah I agree. Mesmer has a bit of slow but depends on their traits.
When i heard about the taunt and read mesmer would get shield I instantly hoped Mesmer would get Taunt. We’ll see.

I like their decision to remove retaliation and let us focus on distraction and avoidance rather than tanking. I’d sort of hoped Taunt would be an optional component in that… I’d love to toss a phantasm or clone up, have it taunt, then shatter it when the enemy got near.
Slow is another one I thought we’d see more of. There’s always potential that our traits will give us a healthy dose, but if there’s a condition I thought Chronomancers would be the masters of, it was Slow.
