Temportal Curtain swiftness stack pls!
That won’t be happening… unless they’ve been sipping THAT kind of Kool-Aid over at the ANet office.
All people would do it run back and forth over it to stack up a bunch of swiftness, and then run around with it. This was how it was like in the betas, and that’s why they made it work the way it does now.
Of course, it would be nice if it would remember if you has already crossed it, and thus only give you one stack of swiftness per line, but I don’t think they’re setup to do that properly in their code.
Signet of inspiration got the buff though, so now there is a dedicated movespeed option for mesmers. It’s a brave new world.

See, this is a silly complaint. Eles can already give perma swiftness to groups via static field blasting.
I think it has a bit more WvW implications. Static field, when blasted, gives aoe swiftness to 5 ppl. Temporal curtain gives it to everyone that walks across. 2-3 mesmers would be a true perma aoe swiftness on a zerg of a 100 people.

Not only what the guy above me said, but this also expends a lot of skills. If you use a static field for swiftness and then get into a fight right away, you won’t have the CC from your static field to use, not to mention everything else you used to blast (unless you did proper weapon swapping, perhaps).
Mesmers would be the undisputed gods of perma-zerg swiftness if they changed temporal curtain to stack.
similarly, a mesmer using temporal curtain for swiftness wouldn’t have it for the pull effect which can also be used as an interrupt. i dont think it changes compared to the elementalist, but 1 time swiftness buff for each player should be better or reduce the duration of temportal curtain, since it’s never really used after the first 2 seconds it’s casted. only use i can think of is, using it as a reflect which is alright cause you get mirror effect through a few traits now.
the chronomancer passive 25% movespeed is coming, and signet of inspiration isn’t needed tbh.
it’s irritating when u put down a temportal curtain in front of u, when someone gives u swiftness at the same time, u basically wasted a skill for literally no use
All they need to do is add an icd per target on gaining swiftness, which anet seemingly has the capability to do. Or make it like portal and have swiftness stacks, but that’s not nearly as much of an improvement.

You won’t benefit from it, but the tail behind you will. It is more wasted when two Mesmers in the zerg place TC around the same time…
Guys I don’t think you actually want it to stack. Because if you do they have to change it to a pulsing aoe. Which you don’t want. Think if symbol of swiftness were a straight line. There are no exceptions to what stacks and what doesn’t. And that is a good thing.

Technically they could fix the “stacks too much” problem with temporal curtain. First entry into curtain would give you one stack of hidden boon “grant swiftness”, which automatically grants you one stack of regular swiftness for the same duration. Standing or running around wouldn’t matter as you already have hidden boon (and new swiftness is only triggered on add).
All done

That makes zero sense. Hidden boons have never existed in this game.

This argument against the stacking doesn’t count. There are traits that have ICD per target. Why can’t there be a skill with ICD per target?
Edit: Oh someone already said this :x

All aoes with no target cap follow the same pattern. If they apply a cc, the cc will be reapplied when they enter the radius. If they apply a boon or a condition, it will not be reapplied.

Yeah, but they’ve demonstrated the ability to have a local icd timer on a specific person (with hitting auras, with the new ineptitude, etc). They could implement that for curtain and put a local icd on acquiring swiftness from temporal curtain.

I already said this pyro no need for you to waste your time. but I guess your writing is more eloquent than mine XD

I explain that because anet already has the capability to individual entity icds for traits and weapon abilities they should just make a icd per player on gaining swiftness from each temporal curatain.

Oh I thought I was also responding to that too. But we can go down this rabbit hole. Not discussing aura or ineptitude because they are activated at range, not by interacting with the aoe. Wall of reflection reflects the bullet back to them and they can dodge, the requirement for these is a player or object has to attempt to move into the radius of the skill.
What do we as players do that aoes don’t do? Move. The aoes that do move are liars and scoundrels as they move along a set path, they do not have free range. So that in mind as we design the ICD for our buffed curtain:
What is the ICD for the curtain? Base duration of swiftness is twelve, duration of curtain is 5. Is the base ICD 1 second? 2? 3? 4? 5?

I run through Curtain A then Curtain B then curtain C. I get 36 seconds of swiftness. cd adds up to 75 seconds.
I run through three symbols of swiftness and get 12 seconds of swiftness, for a cd total of 45. I run through three more for 24 seconds of swiftness total cd total 80. I run through three more for… see my drift?
