Test power/roam build
Hello all, been testing this power/shatter/roaming build in unranked; having a lot of fun with it tbh as it has been giving me a break from my condi/shatter. Having some success with it, but I am hoping to get someone else to try it and give me some constructive feedback. Here’s the build, thx
Gasp! inb4 the “condimes is not the only thing viable” parade.
Ditch SoD. you are only benefitting from the stun. 180 condition damage is worthless to you. It’s a waste.
Get MoD.
Power thieves/revs are going to eat your soul and throw your despoiled carcass into the abyss.
Having said that I’m probably going to run this to give other players nightmares when they stalk off to bed :D

I’m relying on supreme kiting and stealth hiding, then sitting back while the phants go ham. Meanwhile I’ll be using MoD (with CS) to shutdown and stun break bait before locking down with the long sig and pistol stuns.
Good thieves will still be a kitten though as this build isnt far off the old Phantrupt I used to run back before HoT destroyed such things XD

I have a few differences though (plus mine is set up more for WvW than PvP.) I opted to take Gravity Well and dueling line over inspiration. Plenty viable still, I just prefer dueling for the extra clones for a shatter build primarily.
much thx for the feedback so far! Also, for giving builds for me to compare! Theory crafting is one of my favorite things about GW2 – my rationale, in a nutshell, for the signets (e.g. as opposed to MoD) was that in taking Blurred Inscriptions I get 1 second of distortion and 1 condi cleanse per signet. I also find that trying to recharge Mantras in combat is particularly challenging for the time required (2.75 seconds on MoD). The other thing is that SoD is a 3 second stun which could be buffed by taking Confounding Suggestions to 3.75 stun, but elected for Rending Shatter to try and make shatter skills mean something. Again, thx!!!
Hey that looks fun I’m using somewhat the same except I have illusion trait line and I use pistol instead of shield – just don’t find it very useful compared to the added damage as we have do many other ways of avoiding damage + the interrupt really messes people up.
Someone higher up said power thieves wreck us – maybe I’ve just been fighting some really bad ones but they are usually the ones who’ll chase you specifically so you get a lot of 1v1 practice against them. If it’s a pistol thief you can go ahead and pop your dodge and distortion early, often they’ll just look for a quick kill with #3 spam and run out of initiative, good ones might switch to bow and destroy your phantas though while exploiting their great mobility and energy pool. Ambush ones are pesky, totally better with shield/sword OH against those.
What I like about this is that your entire focus should be on being as annoying and frustrating to fight as possible Blinking behind, letting them cc you to set up their combos only to blink out of it, going invis when pillar humping etc :P Damage is nothing to brag about but given time I think you’ll come out on top in most 1v1 situations. Can’t counter everything afterall.
Major weakness comes when your utils are on CD… If you also have distortion on CD when someone decides to open up on you then yeah, goodbye cruel world.

Signet of Domination is useless but you have massive phantasm spam from Chrono and Mental Defense to save you when things get hard. This is a super easy build to play and you’ll win games with it like no tomorrow (If you’re a half decent or even mediocre player). Enjoy a easy breezy free time.
