I’m happy with the PU buff, all these people complaining really annoys me. PU and lockdown have always been my favorite Mesmer builds. With the PU buff to stealth and the boons you get are amazing, I truly enjoy the gameplay even more when playing as a PU Mesmer.

It’s fun for you, and it’s nothing near fun for other people playing versus mesmer with 30% unjustified damage where you can to easily apply conditions and shatter damage on satter mesmer.. while not even geting punished for it. You just apply condis on poor thing, then hide, while the target trying to find you, specially melee will die jsut by standing, and even faster by searching for you.

Next one is new “EAZ PZ SHATTER THIS” build.. where requires to press 3 buttons very quickly to make 14k damage. This is not how it should be, every class has insane cast time to make this happend, and then execution, mesmer can deal that damage within 2 second time lapse from casting to damage done, which includes also walking to the target.
2ND on my favourite list is shatter nerf which can deal 22k damage on target with 3,3k ARMOR and 26k HP. Is this single rotation justified ? No.
I’m not having desire to nerf anything to the ground, all i want is equal balance, and fair play. Both PU and shatter hit way to hard, and both are having little to no counter in 1v1 2v1, people say don’t exegerate but my friend yesterday outplayed 2v8, killed 3 and got away with Shatter mesmer, came back and killed the other 4 trying to ress those pore guys. Keep in mind they were all above silver, so those were not some bronze scrubs that just made virgin steps into WvW.
NOTE: some builds are out of place, some are very weak, and my desire is that every style should have a chance to be played, and at least little viable, and every build should have counter by every profession not just D/D ele.

I’m not even sure which part of this I should start with. Playing versus 20% unjustified damage? Do me a favor and find me where that PU 20% damage modifier is. If you can find it, I bet all the PvE guys will love you forever.
Easily apply conditions without punishment? Sorry, you must have missed the memo. Clone death has been removed from the game. The only ways Mesmer has to apply high intensity conditions are the scepter skills and shatters, both of which are hardly without counterplay.
You apply conditions, then hide, and the target dies? You must be fighting the worst players in the game then! The vast majority of Mesmer condition pressure is hard-countered by standing still and using no skills. Normally that’s a bad idea, but if you just apply conditions then hide, that’s exactly what any even halfway decent player will do.

Every class has insane cast time to make that happen? We must be playing different games then. To do a shatter that strong, you need to be point blank range with your target for mirror blade, then use that skill without it being mitigated, then shatter. Not the height of difficulty, but not exactly easy either.
Thief can do that much damage with a backstab and then hss. Warrior can do that much damage with a whirlwind followed by arcing slice. Alternatively, warrior could hit eviscerate and then auto a couple times. Engineer can do that in an instant with a static discharge build, ranger with rapid fire and pet hits during taunt, guardian…can do that with either power burst or their ridiculous instant 11 burn stacks combo, necromancer can do that much with a single close range life blast and procs, and Elementalist can easily match that with fresh air burst.
Every class has their own instakill burst combo. They take different forms and feels, but they all work quite effectively.

You’re complaining about how much damage burst does by saying that you can burst someone with a lot of health, completely forgetting (or more likely never understanding in the first place) that health has zero correlation to damage taken.
You’re claiming that a Mesmer can burst someone with 3.3k armor for 22k damage. Everything about that is pretty laughable, unless the target stands there, lets an iZerker hit them, hit them again, and then still eats the full burst combo that takes a lot of time and utilities to set up without dodging or moving or otherwise doing anything to mitigate the damage.
You’re under the impression that this is a ‘single rotation’, as if it could be repeated easily, when really it’s a complex combo requiring 9+ skills with large recharges all timed to land exactly at the right points in time without the target doing anything to avoid it.

I’m fully willing to believe this happened. WvW is filled with uplevels and absolutely hilariously awful players. If you find the right mix, massively outnumbered fights are easily possible, especially on an aoe bursting build vs uplevels with very low defense.
Keep in mind they were all above silver, so those were not some bronze scrubs that just made virgin steps into WvW.

Arguments against nerfing PU often feel extremely selfish, not many people care if other players are having fun or not fighting your infinite stealth build. If you want PU to stay please give solid arguments.
I feel like OP is saying ‘’please don’t nerf PU, I’m having fun now that I’m abusing the broken mechanics of stealth and stunlocking people so they barely get to throw any moves at me, so don’t listen to people who have constructive arguments as to why it should be nerfed’’.
It honestly saddens me that people just want their class to be better than others simply to have this unfair advantage over them, no sense of individual skill or pride at all.
If mesmer is actually balanced right now, then that’s freaking great, but we at least need arguments as to why you think mesmer is currently balanced.

Attacks from phantasm break stealth not sure if you should be revealed maybe.
It should be just phantasm and not clones because mesmer cant help to summon them.
The reason for this is theif got same treatment on choking gass so its just fair game.

That would be annoying but it sure does sound like a fair nerf so I’m all for it, it would be cool if they gave you the ability to unsummon phantasms without shattering them though.

Is PU with traited decoy OP? Not really, especially in PvP.
Is PU with decoy and torch OP? It’s a strong combo, no more than on other classes equivalent.

Just figured I’d throw that in there as a reasons to keep it. Really it’s only getting “out of hand”, “broken” or “too much” when you run with everything to give stealth and all the reductions. Still it’s less investment than a thief has to put in to simply slip away in stealth all the time as our thieves in mesmer clothing won’t attest =P
I like Mesmer I play very often among all professions it is funny how much that one trit do for you, fact that tru stelth you get agies protection healing makes her one of the strongest traits in game if not strongest!

Fun fact: mods rarely show up without a report. Non-report mod appearances are usually in PvP/WvW forums where there are a lot of threads that can be seen to blatantly violate forum rules just from the title. For everything else, mods don’t waste their time reading every post unless it’s brought to their attention with a report.

I have a nerf list but not any toons. Just miss information, hatred, exaggeration, and probably poorly played experiences that end up in our forum.

I don’t think a 25 might stacked, 3 clone mesmer can can deal anywhere near 20k damage, even against a 25 vulnerability stacked thief.
If you’re gonna post numbers then you gotta be realistic.

False, people are upset about PU having buffed up mechanics. The BUFFS that PU has or even lockdown only mean that other players need to learn how to fight a Mesmer differently. I remember when people were complaining at how to fight thieves before the patch as a Mesmer, and most said just RUN. Now we can hold our own against them.

Still, you need to position yourself, clones, and make sure your oppenent, is vulnerable. Definitely not easy compared to some other class’s easy 1-2 button burst.

It is not. A prestige illusionary leap shatter is one of the easiest-to-predict bursts.
You don’t assume you are playing against bads who has no clue what to do. Against bads, any burst is super easy to land.

People keep exaggerating things and pretend they are fair.
One single shatter combo deals 22k damage on some super tanky character? I can’t do that
2v8 with ease? I can’t do that either. It would take a lot of effort and luck even for the best mesmers in the game against some random WvW silver players.
I bet he can’t do that either. At least bring some PROOF before exaggerating things.

Because people like to exaggerate and instead of coming in for help on how to beat it or have constructive conversation about what could be done, they’d much rather the class as a whole be nerfed into the ground in the name of “balance”. I mean, what do you expect if you have a ton of people that don’t even play the class(some do, but definitely not all) telling the Mesmer forums what should be nerfed and what it should be nerfed to. Then you have the people that come in claiming to be mesmer mains but just looking through their post history shows they obviously aren’t. And finally you have the people that actually play mesmer seriously or as their main. These people usually have a more civil tone, but that quickly disappears when the mesmer forums are flooded by at least one new whiny post every day that is essentially saying the exact same things as the 20 before it.
Long story short, lots of people who don’t play mesmer think they know what’s best for mesmers and will complain in any outlet they can find.
Most of the mesmer main said that mesmer has a high skill cap after patch but i just saw this vid and mesmer rn has a low skill cap.
The problem is rather that it’s a very strong noob basher now. If you are unable to dodge the shatter or prevent it via block or invuln, you are most likely dead. The weakness of the shatter mesmer is after F1.
Oh I’ve been a witness of this complaining in game to many times, And also a victim? If I should say.. Some buffoon wanted to whisper to me after a match "daze daze daze, That’s all mesmers are good for, play a real class not that (EZ?) s**t
I was confused as to what EZ? was supposed to mean, (Easy) But easy to play or kill?
And then it spiraled downwards with reporting threats and all kinds of nonsense. It evidently just lead to me reporting him. (Obvious whining troll I’m assuming) Weirdly he assumed I was someone else who participated in “tourneys” which at the time I didn’t know what it stood for or how to get into one…..

Should we take a warrior roaming vid hand selected, edited and basically made for enjoyment and start a crusade to nerf reckless dodge.

but but but…people were doing this pre patch. Especially on necros that were only trying to harvest the herbs nearby (yes I spotted that on the video) and in “duels” which the game is not, nor should ever be balanced around.

You missed my point. How fun would the warrior or Mesmer any toon video be if it was nothing but down state? The point I tried to make is it is select footage. I have seen plenty of gs/rifle builds in wvw doing the same.
I mostly run into problems in pvp where i am doing a 1v1 then the mesmer comes in from nowhere with a 6s stealth and gets me from half health to 0

Depends what your build is, class and how you intend to win.
For example a bunker guard that made a mesmer spend a few minutes trying to kill him, even if the guard died but kept the point he won the fight because he got more points.
Now if you’re talking about a dueling arena where people abide by a strict set of self imposed rules…well you’re being beaten by yourself at that point by not playing the way the game is being balanced around.
It’s not a dig at you or anything, it’s just that a bunker with the absence of a point will at best stalemate. Likewise someone who specializes in locking down opponents and creating moments of opportunity for others to capitalize on will be at a disadvantage.

It’s absolutely true that mesmers are stronger now than they were.
You beating your buddy before the patch, but not after, is not terribly surprising if he was always a mesmer.
Mesmers were operating under a disability before, and now they are not. A lotlotlot of the whining about mesmers right now is coming from people who were able to just farm mesmers before, but now actually have to try…and they don’t know how yet.
The reason for the constant “learn to dodge” you’re hearing is because most people right now complaining about mesmers don’t realize just how big a deal that is against mesmers…they aren’t used to it!
That doesn’t mean there aren’t issues with mesmers (or a lot of classes right now), and that you might just come up against some unbalanced mechanics, it just means most of the people we see come through here complaining just haven’t learned to adapt to dangerous mesmers yet.
In short, your friend might have been better than you this whole time, but because he was playing a mesmer, you didn’t know it until now.
Or, it really might be because his build is just overpowered (is he stunning you a lot? Lockdown builds are pretty oppressive right now).
Either way, rule number 1 to dealing with a mesmer is dodging the burst. If you dodge at the right moment, you’ve probably negated most of their damage, and they have to get their illusions back up before they can try again.
Rule number 2 is to cleave the illusions. Illusions die fast, and they can’t insta-shatter you without their illusions.
Why every time i post in this forum you guys always say the same “learn to dodge” as if i don’t know that, i already commented this to other thread that my 1vs1 buddy is a mesmer and pre patch i can win against him depending on the build but after this patch i always lose so please tell me did my buddy become so pro and i become so bad just after the patch? just to add only mesmer class i’m having a hard time killing but guards 50/50.
It’s absolutely true that mesmers are stronger now than they were.
You beating your buddy before the patch, but not after, is not terribly surprising if he was always a mesmer.
Mesmers were operating under a disability before, and now they are not. A lotlotlot of the whining about mesmers right now is coming from people who were able to just farm mesmers before, but now actually have to try…and they don’t know how yet.The reason for the constant “learn to dodge” you’re hearing is because most people right now complaining about mesmers don’t realize just how big a deal that is against mesmers…they aren’t used to it!
That doesn’t mean there aren’t issues with mesmers (or a lot of classes right now), and that you might just come up against some unbalanced mechanics, it just means most of the people we see come through here complaining just haven’t learned to adapt to dangerous mesmers yet.
In short, your friend might have been better than you this whole time, but because he was playing a mesmer, you didn’t know it until now.
Or, it really might be because his build is just overpowered (is he stunning you a lot? Lockdown builds are pretty oppressive right now).Either way, rule number 1 to dealing with a mesmer is dodging the burst. If you dodge at the right moment, you’ve probably negated most of their damage, and they have to get their illusions back up before they can try again.
Rule number 2 is to cleave the illusions. Illusions die fast, and they can’t insta-shatter you without their illusions.

Mesmer was so lack luster before the latest patch. You’d see shatter Mesmers everwhere, and you’d rarely see other builds. I hated that. Now that Mesmers have been buffed up, to the level they need to be in, where multiple builds are now strong, rather than the shatter META… you still have people COMPLAINING! Its idiotic.
I think ANET has done a fine job. If ANET will NERF something, it better not break the level of power we mesmers have now.
I started day 1 as a Mes and I have to say Mes is OP on some builds at the moment. I actually got rid of my condition gear because PU condi Mes was way to cheese (before patch). For a long time I hated thieves… not the case anymore. I main a melee ranger now, but I still love the mes. But 100% uptime on stealth is pretty insane.
Most of the mesmer main said that mesmer has a high skill cap after patch but i just saw this vid and mesmer rn has a low skill cap.
It’s sorta adorable that you think a shatter montage is justification for literally anything.
I don’t feel like PU is anywhere near overpowered. Considering there are thief builds that allow perma stealth and 1 shots. PU isn’t being abused, its being used as intended.
I just feel like people get frustrated because they still don’t know how to identify the real mesmer… which is easy as hell.

I already said this too in other thread that i already forget but dodging the shatter is not my problem but the cc they have now i break stun then they will just cc me again if not the stealth i always manage to burst a mesmer this patch but the thing is they can stealth or blink away until i burn all my skill cd and you know what will happen if your utilities are on cd you just die if you can’t kite a blink. I don’t have any problem with their dps but being not able to see your opponent with a burst like that it frustrate the hell out of me i can understand the thieves they don’t have the illusion or clones for distraction but mesmer has enough on their sleeves. cleaving yes but the constant stealth. And i already said that mesmer will be balance if Arenanet will just balance that stealth on mesmer and the cc because right now it’s crazy.

What i want to say is that those kind of build should not exist because it makes the game boring. And same with this build.

Every second the mesmer is getting off cooldowns from stealth is a second your abilities are coming off cooldown too.
Statements like “stealth or blink away until I burn all my skill cd” suggests to me that you don’t understand the ebb and flow of it.
Mesmer cds are not short.
Stealthing and blinking costs utility skills.
Every time a mesmer creates distance with stealth or blink, they have burned a cooldown. They don’t magically get to make you burn yours, without burning theirs.
