But I personally would love Mantras to be reverted to their “bugged state”. It opens up more strategic options imo. If it would be too strong, I would agree to an increase of the Mantra’s cool down.
Totally agree. If the “bugged” version of the mantras are too strong, adjust the numbers (healing output, cooldown per charges, cooldown before recharging).
The “bugged” mantra state was just way more fun. With the “bugged” version it was far more rewarding to use the mantra charges when necessary. Now it is more effective to just spam your charges asap to get the cooldown running again.

My suggestion is to make Mantras start recharging when the first charge is used while in combat. This fixes the issue of Mesmers have too much “first strike” when going into a fight while still allowing you to use charges tactically without feeling as if you’re wasting CD by not discharging it completely ASAP.
It was not a bug. Anet says “fixed a bug” when they don’t want to deal with explaining their attempts at pleasing the herds of people who cry about something (and of course if they can get away with it, they could not claim bugs in connection with turrets).
It’s a really clever yet quite disgusting practice.
That’s the same thing happened to rangers spirits, engi turrets, guardian spirit weapons…..
Expecially for ranger’s spirits, that’s a bug that caused them to become really OP in spvp for long time.
A cooldown start when the skill end, not when the skill start. I use the guardian and it will be good if shelter recharg will start when I active it, why I will obtain 2 sec of recharge reduction. The same for other better skills on other classes.
It was good but it was a bug.
I vote for starting the cooldown when you first use a charge of that particular mantra. Would preserve all the QoL for PvE and rotating between fights in PvP, but softens the edge case of emptying 6 charges of each mantra into a single foe.

It should be, e.g. by applying modified Power Block code to the mantra skill if it isn’t on cooldown already. Then again, I can “fix” Temporal Curtain in pseudo-code, C++, Python or the Starcraft2 Editor in <2min each, so something must be deeply wrong with their code base and/or developer team (not exactly a new revelation though, is it?)

for PvE: like mentioned already it was gread and gave a lot of additional support if needed (think about nooby dungeon parties, which u could carry alot)
so i’d love to get “bugged” version back, due to it usually usefull to carry pugs not to die all day long.
for PvP: in my opinion this game still has no pvp, but if you want it and its “op”, why not seperate skills for pvp?!?!
same for the dmg boost on use
Idk.. I was fine with mantras before the patch. I don’t feel I lost much now that it’s changed back.
My two cents from a different thread copied/pasted onto here:
The ‘bug’ the mantras had, at least for Mantra of Resolve, was perfect. My build revolves around this Mantra (and torch cleanses). Honestly, I don’t care about any other mantras and if they get nerfed or buffed. But this condi cleanse during the ‘bug’ was essential. You couldn’t repeatedly cleanse yourself of 2 condis because you still had that 20 second cd (and an almost 3 second charge time) but more of strategically using it though. Now it’s complete and utter junk. Give some thought into reducing the CD or changing this mantra back to the ‘bug’ style.
The background recharge would be a decent feature with some tweaks to mantras themselves. I was in middle of Ascalonian Catacombs run with some newbies when the build came live, remember helping them out with shrugging off lots of immobilizes, providing some stability for the skipping moments. We finished the dungeon, game forced an update and we decided to go for fractals. What happened there, really made me tired of my mesmer and mantra setup itself. I’m not dealing as much DPS as other classes, so I focused on support role to make people feel safe and confident when running with me. Now I’ll have to either time everything correctly (which is another burden) or play solo builds with just reflects to satisfy salty elites who never have their precious classes nerfed to the point when they want to abandon playing their character.
Right now, with such “balancing” the game just gets less dynamic, more troublesome – no satisfaction at all, and that is not the point of video games.
