The Mesmers Old Skills From Guild Wars 1 !
Panic xD
That was a really powerful Elite skill.
Blackout = my all time favorite
Illusionary Weaponry… It’s the reason I made a mesmer in GW1.
Deaths Fear [Fear] / The Hardcore Caravan [HC]
Forum Warrior: Black Belt in Ninja Edits
I never got the hand of that skill @leo Paul
Not one skill in particular but the Wastrels Panic build… loved that build… or the pre nerf Vision of regret, backfire, empathy build for pvp… played mesmer for 5 or so years back in the day…
heck yeah man I had all my char decked out but my Mesmer was my pride and joy !!
Old Diversion, Cry of Frustration, Migraine, Mistrust
“#$%#!!
Word of Healing was diverted!
People think we’re annoying now, they haven’t played against a GW1 Mesmer yet… LOL
Oh and Arcane Languor.. that thing scares me every time it’s used against me
I’m usually typing on my phone

Crippling Anguish or Shared Burden… they’re both so amazing…
As their mother, I have to grant them their wish. – Forever Fyonna
Shatter Enchantment and Diversion on monks used to love the sound effects (shatter enchant killing a monk :d)
Energy Surge used to be nice aoe damage
I also liked to have a build based on keystone signet. Was very fun, too!
oh yeah let me echo the gw1 diversion, spam PB and add monks to gw2 lol i will be living in spvp if that happens. it was so fun make people cry the whole match on gw1 mesmers lol
Most of my favorites have been listed all ready but they definitely need to look back at GW1 for some more inspiration for the Mesmer. Feels like we don’t have as much build variety now. So much I miss from there.

I feel like we have some of the greatest variety when compared to the other profs…

I used to go in RA with diversion and glyph of renewal together to cast back to back diversions on monks followed by shame, it was hektik shutdown :P

Oh I agree in GW2 I’m just comparing it to GW1 as is the subject of the thread.
Energy Surge used to be nice aoe damage
I loved Energy Surge and energy denial builds in general. I was so disappointed when I heard they took energy out of GW2 because I knew e-denial was dead.
Yak’s Bend
Arcane Mimicry.
Definitely Illusionary Weaponry. I miss it so!
Illusion of Weakness, Spirit Shackles and Sympathetic Visage all equal second.
Echo. Echo was such an amazing skill, opened so many options and really felt like an elite skill. i miss it so much.
would be so good to have double phantasm/feedback/heal/etc
but i dream on
Definitely Panic and echo… together.
I soooo miss hexes in general, no idea why hexes is not a part of mesmers skills in gw2

Had a lot of fun with Signet of Illusions
it kinda feels like gw2 mesmers were made first, then they thought “lets make them cooler” and went back in time and put all the cool fun stuff in gw1
i miss all the IF THEN ELSE builds back then
now its just “which clones and phantasms do you want to deal with”
watered down lameness!
bring on complicated and cool!

Yes! Someone else that felt the same way I did lol.
Had a lot of fun with Signet of Illusions
That was my the key piece in a few of my builds (lol 16 illusion magic 12 fast casting, god forbid i didn’t get my illusionary signet off at some points xD)

I kinda like GW2 mes more, but it’s more because it’s a total mental game, which i’m good at and have convinced so many players (some of which are regular paid tourney winners) into attacking my clones, oh nothing makes me smile more like causing a hundreds blade warrior to waste his burst on a clone only to blow it up in his face.

So phantasms are supposed to be like physical hexes, how about a phantasm that does nothing but has high retaliation to punish AOE damage.
IF you do damage to that phantasm damage THEN you get hurt ELSE you stay ok.
We’ve got feedback, which is a IF THEN ELSE mechanic, It’d be cooler that the feedback bubble was anchored to the target though.

we also have mirror, and reflect diversion, the retal for all phantasms trait, confusion (lol i love that condition) etc.
PS: There’s also mimic, i just learned recently that reflected projectiles after absorbing the first.

I miss so many skills..
Way back when before the mantra of persistence nerf: Mantra of Persistence + Crippling Anguish. Let a whammo with 8 attack skills on his bar chase you far away in RA, whack a 50 second slow on him, and run back to battle
Signet of midnight (good with plague touch). Stand next to your monk in RA and make 2 melee useless for the entire event. I had so many assassins rage quit doing this.
Diversion and Psychic instability.. (omg psychic instability)… is the anything better than watching a noob ele not use glyph sac and try to cast meteor storm? wait for it … wait for it … wait for it .. so close to finishing the spell… kd!

lol mantra of persistence was great!! But what’d you get the 50s slow from? Was that Imagined Burden? If so i thought that was just a worse version of Etheral Burden…

Ahh yea, it was Imagined Burden. You’d put 15 or 16 in inspiration to get the mantra nice and high. I think illusion only needed 9 or 10 points. They finally nerfed the hell out of it, but man, to see a warrior walking slowly trying to get back to the fight and everyone else is just running around … of course, the second he’d get back, burden would be recharged and you could whack him with it again..
good times..
Keystone Signet Build
Wastrel’s Demise
I was interested to know the actual difference between them, so I went youtube the video. I found out that in GW2, mesmers got nerfed big time
How lucky there’s a video of skill description comparison:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rj6G1hiysn4
sigh…
I miss interrupting. It’s a lot harder to get the timing right on normal mob attacks and most champs/bosses are immune (some even without Defiant active). I get why it has to be like that, but it’s still a letdown
I miss fast cast in general.
Backfire lol so much fun.
Panic, definitely.
How fun it would be to break up a zerg in wvw outside my tower walls by casting Panic down into their midsts.
Arcane Languor for Exhaustion, then Aneurysm as often as possible (maybe even with Arcane Echo). Target won’t regain energy past exhaustion. =)

mantra of worry
while charging, it grants high retaliation to your illusions, clickable twice for 2 secs of blocking
feedback?
if you attack with ranged, you get hurt, else… nothing…
you just wait? thats not much of a punishment
itd be better if it added "if you do NOT attack while in the bubble, you gain 1 second of confusion for each second you were in the bubble, once you leave the bubble/it ends
id love that!
or if.. whats that power i never use, the boon stripper/condition stripper aoe… that one… if you cast a boon or cause a condition(as a foe) while inside, it puts it on you as well(or the casters target in the case of a boon)
OH! or an elite that causes 1 of 4 things to happen
a: 10 clones jump out of a portal next to your target and run around making attacking motions but doing no dmg
b: your target has clones spawn next to him, 1 per second for 5 seconds, and they all do an attack motion and then selfshatter for no effect
c: you party visually(not effectively) gains 5 min buffs for all boons(or “invulnerable” spams over your parties head)
d: you self moa
that power would never leave my bar, id crack up
i like hysterically messing with people, … i find people spam CDS when you catch them off guard, itd be handy
or a power that makes it so when someone uses a heal power, it knocks them down, or teleports them next to you, or causes 1 second of all conditions, or forces them to dance in a circle of butterflies, or… other fun funny stuff
(edited by Gubrz.7283)
Power Block, Diversion & Blackout, I also miss interrupts in general :-(
