The Prestige CD Glitch
Yes, you are correct, that’s a tad… interesting. If you spec into it, you could get 99% uptime. (+1 second stealth, hurrdurr)
EDIT:
Seems that trait doesn’t give +1 second stealth to it. It does give the boon, but not the bonus duration.
TWO BUGS IN ONE!
Experience the perma stealth before it gets fixed!!
@Esplen: That interaction with the trait isn’t a bug, it’s by design. The debs said that since the 1 second increase hurts the utility of the skill (not necessarily true now that you don’t have to channel it) they made that trait add boons but not increase the duration.
That being said, 1s is far larger than the normal time it takes to render someone in wvw. I’m thinking combining an on clone death build utilizing deceptive evasion with permanent stealth from the prestige will be…interesting.
It’s not permanent, but you can easily use the invis to spawn clones and/or ease of use shatters/position for BF.
Then again, it’s only going to be really amazing as a 1v1 weapon unless you’re using it defensively or super offensively, it won’t be really good in between.
Mesmers are the new theif. Permastealth ftw
I vote whoever opened this thread should now close it So that the community doesn’t catch on. :P lol. But honestly I really do hope that it gets fixed because it will be yet another reason for people to hate mesmers.
Actually, it just became the 2nd most spammable blast finisher in game.
I predict emergency patch fix within 48 hours.
Most likely will be…

actually wouldn’t it be the most spamable blast finisher in the game? Cluster bomb is limited by intitiative, only allowing you to use one every 4ish seconds at max assuming one point of initiative = 1.67 seconds to regen. iirc, the prestige was a double blast finisher, thus one blast finisher per 2 seconds.
I can confirm this bug.
Using the Prestige then double tapping weapon swap to your other weapon will make the Prestige go on ‘’cancel cooldown’’ and recharge in 3-4 seconds. You can spam this all day long granted that you can swap weapons that fast in combat.

By double blast finisher, you mean when you activate and when it finishes? Because before this patch is only blast finished upon the explosion at the end, not sure about now. I don’t think it is, though.

There are other methods that let you use it every 4 seconds.
EDIT: Tested, it is a double blast finisher.
(edited by Esplen.3940)
It is a double blast finisher now. It blasts when you activate, and blasts when the fire goes. Wow.

it was always like this
rofl… I’m here to confirm more broken mechanics from this skill update. Seems like devs only removed the channeling part but forgot every other effects the skill could do.
Now hide in SM and prepare for portal BOMB!!
Works with cancelling Scepter 3/Torch 5 as well.

Hi! This is indeed an issue that we’re looking into and will update when we get a fix ready. Thanks for the report!
Oh dang there goes the fun boys and girls! hahaha..
Eh, that’s all it really is: Fun.
It doesn’t have THAT much usability.

It’s actually does if you trait for it…. aegis/regen/protection every 4 sec is a lot. Blind lasts 5 seconds with the spam rate of 4 second. 2.3k burn every 4 second. Cure all conditions every 4 second. 2 blast finisher every 4 second. and on top of it all stealth every 4 second — suppose you’re not in combat you’re exposed only for 1 second.

If you’re using it offensively, you have to include stealth cooldown. Have you actually tried doing it every 4 seconds in combat?

Like I said.. there are more than just stealth. Detection debuff lasts for only 3 secs so yes you can do it every 4 second.

Every 7 seconds*
And again, as to everyone who’s saying this is superb, have you tried doing it yet, because we can theorycraft all we want, but our opponents aren’t going to stand still while we nuke them.

NOOOOOOO!
Don’t ninja fix it yet! Not until I get home :’(

I can do it while running about and mostly stealthed but there’s no point.

Stealth, Burn, AoE Damage, Blast and if traited with Prismatic and Illusionary Membrane… No point ?
They will fix it, but I hope they will reduce the cooldown and buff iMage.
Nuuuuuu i thought i was the only one who fund this glitch and kept it for me lol Its so nice to insta kill everything
I feel like people are forgetting to trait for confusion on blind here when listing how it can be abused.

Of course they will fix it, but assuming you do it right every time it’s off cooldown, you’re only going to get it down every 7 seconds as you’re going for the burns/aoe damage. If you only go for the stealth then you’re relying on clone/phantasm damage while you invis constantly, thereby making Prismatic and iMembrane and the Blast somewhat useless.
its op as kitten, and so fun to troll random zergs with it. run in the middle of 5 guys and watch them all slowly die.
3 second stealth every 4 seconds, while blinding and doing good damage.
for those that havent figured it out, you can use any skill with a cast time to cancel the cooldown. autoattacking for example, though you have to be careful to not hit anyone, or you get unstealthed.
how is it every 7 seconds? you get a blind every 4 seconds, and a burn every 4 seconds, just those 2 are seperated by 3 seconds of stealth. you still get the effect every 4 seconds.
I wonder how many people know that this bug isn’t entirely new: it existed before and was fixed, and now has resurfaced.

By definition every 4 seconds means…
every… 4… seconds.
This means that you are casting The Prestige every 4 seconds, not every 4 seconds AFTER it ends. It has a 7 second cooldown or a 4 second DOWNTIME. there is a difference.

i’m casting the skill every 4 seconds. do you know what you’re saying?
i press the skill, wait 4 seconds, then i press skill again, repeat forever.
where are you getting 7 seconds? the 4 second cooldown starts as soon as you activate the skill, NOT after the skill ends.

But anchor is fixed already. No reflects.
Really? Was that in this patch? I was in a Fractal earlier, and people were stating that the anchor was annoying them due to the reflect, I’ll admit I didn’t double-check it though in the graphical chaos.
But anchor is fixed already. No reflects.
Just for the sake of clarity : no more reflect/confusion, but still bypass CC immunity. Was in january patch IIRC (more than a month in any case).

May I suggest an easy fix? Make it insta cast. Problem solved.
May I suggest an easy fix? Make it insta cast. Problem solved.
Here comes the weird thing: It is already insta cast!
You press #4 and you are instantly stealthed, just like using Decoy.
You can’t interrupt The Prestige by doing a dodge roll (unlike e.g. your casted healing spells, which are interrupted when you dodge roll while casting).
BUT you can interrupt The Prestige by casting something else, or switching weapons.
Weird!
Please fix this by making it a REAL insta cast!
(edited by Snoxx.7943)
This should be an easy fix Hopefully one that doesn’t require you to remove prestige from the game or make it useless like it was before.
“Has no interrupt cd reduction” or “Always goes on 30s Cd”
Done.
Not a bug. They intentionally made Prismatic Understanding not lengthen the stealth duration of The Prestige because it was channeled and having to channel a second longer for the damage aspect was deemed not worth it.
With that said, I do think it should be made to affect the skill now, though the 3s Flameburst would likely unstealth you anyhow.
I’m still undecided whether Prismatic Understanding is truly worth a GM trait given that we only have two sources of stealth that don’t have long CDs, and one of them doesn’t work with half the trait. The boon applying aspect, while helpful (particularly for blocking AoE interrupts when The Prestige was channelled), is very slightly redundant: it certainly helps against channels, AoE or just lucky shots, but stealth is decent at mitigating damage already.
Having said that, I still use it and like it.

Right, and if you deal damage with the skill, you get the stealth cooldown…
which is 3 seconds. you stealth again when you can use the skill again.
you DONT get the stealth cooldown from coming OUT of the skill.
This was pretty fun when I went to try it out in WvW. It’s not that great but with a zerg and a bunch of water fields and fire fields, I was able to do so many area healing and might it was insane.
oooh mesmer has an op skill, better fix it fast.
how come thieves don’t get their backstab builds fixed to not do OP damage!

Do we really need to explain that there is a difference between an obvious bug that lets you circumvent the CD if a skill by nearly 90% and a build/profession perceived as overpowered?
