All I ask is that if you choose to use my build that you do not take credit for it and instead give credit to whom it belongs. Which is me.

Thank you and please have fun with the build

The Prince Of Chaos mesmer build
0) intro
This is the direct damage glass cannon build that I “The Prince Of Chaos” uses. Being a direct damage build it does not use conditions as the main source of damage like most mesmer builds do, and instead uses direct damage. Being a full glass cannon means that you will hit amazingly hard. But you will also have very little armor and vitality. Though this is a very small problem to a skilled mesmer. The proper use of distortion, stealth, and survivability utility will make up for that lack of armor and health.

1) power, precision, critical.
With this build you should have nearly 100 percent critical damage. What this means is that on any critical hit (phantasms attacks included) you will be doing twice as much damage. You should also have at least 50% critical hit chance meaning half of the time you will critical hit, and from that half of the time you will be doing twice as much damage. Also with this build your power will be near max. Meaning that your non crits will hit hard, and your critical hits will hit even harder.

3) greatsword
This is going to be your ranged dps weapon. For the auto attack you should and will be doing 1k to 2k depending on if it all crits or not.

Mirror blade is going to be a great damage dealer because of the bounce. Make sure to use It at medium range so as to get the bounce resulting in it hitting twice.
I don’t spam mirror blade. I find that if I throw mirror blade at the enemy right when he’s about to heal or do an action I can stop. The mirror blade will hit him or her, and then I hit diversion. Because the clones is summoned right next to the target I can use diversion to daze and interupt the heal or action that I don’t want them to complete immediately.
Though the best use of mirror blade is the fact that it is unblock able. Making it great for getting a hit in when they think they are safe.

Mind stab does a good amount of damage. The boon ripping is not amazing. Though it does have some uses getting off stability, regeneration, protection, swiftness, really ita just a good way to get rid of the enemy’s advantage.

The phantasmal berserker is amazing, and is going to be the big hitter when u are at long range. Because it has your power, prec, and citical damage it is going to hit very very hard. Harder than a phantasm build even. Though because you will not have any vitality or toughness the phantasms will die after 1-2 attacks. So knowing when to shatter so as to get full use of your phantasms is vital.

The illusionary wave is really good in the hands of a skilled mesmer. It’s a great cc. It allows you to clear a capture point in spvp. Push people of cliffs in wvw. And interupt multiple people within medium range.

4) 1hand sword
With this build your auto attack will be doing 1k-1.5-2k with each swing. But because you are a glass cannon you will be taking more damage then its worth to stay in melee range for long. But even so don’t be scared to get a few auto attacks in every once in a while to show them who’s boss
Also its good to get a boon off that you don’t want them to have. A good tactic is to use your decoy and then pretend to be a clone. You should get in 1-2 auto attack chains before they know what’s going on.

Blurred frenzy is going to be your amazing spiked shield. It will be doing 3k to 4-5k depending on how much of it crits. I would suggest to keep it off cool down unless you need it or if after using your leap swap blurred frenzy embrass of death you have some survivability skill to use.
Because you will not be auto attacking much. Make sure to get this skill in as much as you can. But be smart about when you use it. Because you will often find situations that you wished you had not spammed the skill.

The leap/swap skill is one of my favorite skills that the mesmer has. After much experimentation with this skill I have found so many uses that most Mesmers would not even think possible.hmmm let’s talk about the leap first

Leap actually has many uses. The crippled…..is not one of them XD
The first tactic that most Mesmers use is just spamming leap and swap to then tie in blurred frenzy. This is good but it loses nearly all of its potential like that.
A good tactic to use is to use leap then shatter. This opens up a lot of options firstly you could daze the target to interrupt them. You could mind wrack them for 1-3k damage on the spot, and so on. But the cool thing about leap is that werever the leap clone dies is were the swap will take you. Meaning you could leap mind wrack dodge backwards. Then when the enemy charges you, you can swap and teleport behind them. This does have a limitation though. It will only teleport you 600 in the direction of we’re the leap clone died/is. Lets talk about swap now. I would suggest that when using this skill that you keep a eye on we’re that leap clone is/were it died. Because you can use that teleport many ways. My tip is to use this strategically.

Swap is really all the fun in 1h sword. A good combo that any mesmer should know is to immobilize then blurr frenzy them. But a amazing use that I have found is not the immobilize. It’s actually that swap is a stun breaker.
That’s right A STUN BREAKER. Meaning that for a example if a thief charges up his basilisk venom. I could simply use leap, wait for the B venom to hit then use swap. Breaking me out of the stun, immobilizing the thief, and setting me up for a nice mind wrack blurred frenzy combo. Really the swap can be used for many things (Teleports, immobilize. ) but really the stun breaker makes this skill amazing in combat.
A word of advice though. Make sure that you have your timing right. Because you will need to use swap not to fast so as to allow you to use the swap, and not to slow because well…..if you get stunned you won’t be able to use leap, and from there swap.

5) focus

Oh my gosh I’ve been dieing to talk about the focus. It is personally my favorite weapon to combo with 1h sword. Now don’t get me wrong it does not do nearly as much single target damage as the pistol or the offhand sword. But it makes up for that in a amazing amount of utility when traited, and a good amount of small aoe damage if used correctly when doing a combo with 1h sword
But enuf of that. Lets talk about what the focus can do
Firstly the projectile reflect trait. Which I think is a must have if you are running around with focus. This trait is just spot on amazing. It counters nearly any ranged build and makes it backfire. I have to say that it is always amusing watching a glass cannon ranger rip itself apart from just 1 simple skill.

The temporal curtain although looks bad with just a crippled and a swiftness actually has a lot of uses. The biggest of which is that you can lay down the curtain and essentially make a anti projectile shield…that reflects. This one skill can make so many builds kill themselves e.g. engineers,rifle/bow warriors, rangers, pistol pistol condition thieves, and many many more. And all that while defending you. It’s a perfect shield that is also a sword.
In to the void is actually were the fun starts though. This pull is simply amazing. It is in truth the best pull/push in the game. It is aoe, It can be used as a push or pull depending on placement, it can interupt multiple people from a good range, it has it all. But really the true potential in this weapon is not just the pull by itself. It actually starts to be godly when you start combing other skills with it.
A great combo is to use the pull to push a person in to your range of the leap/swap and then to blurred frenzy them essentially increasing some of your attacks effective range.

The phantasmal warden is good. But it is stationary. It’s only use alone is to use it as a barrier to stop projectiles. But if you get a target in to its aoe that target will usually take around 3-5k damage. Which is a lot. Not as much as the offhand sword phantasm. But it does have something that the offhand sword phantasms does not, and that aoe damage. A huge amount of aoe damage. The only problem is getting the targets in to the aoe and keeping them there. That’s we’re the main hand sword and focus pull come in.

What I am going to tell you is my own personal combo that I came up with. It takes some skill to use effectively but it is amazing when you get the hang of it.

The first step is to use the curtain in range of the target(s).(try and get in in a point that would pull a lot of targets to a single point). after that start summoning illusionary warden then right when the wardens about to be summoned use the pull. If done correctly what will happen is all the targets will be in the aoe of illusionary warden. Now the last step is to just get them all to stay there. That’s we’re the sword leap swap comes in. You leap and swap to the target, and because the immobilize is aoe most to all of the targets will be stuck. Getting hit for 5k from the warden alone. You then use blurred frenzy to add 4 more k to the damage. After the 3 seconds go by shatter. Make sure to allow warden to hit as much as she can before shattering.

If the targets are not on the ground by now you can be sure that they took one hell of a hit…the best part about this combo is that it can be done every 20 secounds.

6) the heal.
Really I would suggest only going with either feast. The rest of the heals just can’t compare to the amount healed. I would suggest that you wait until you have 3 -2 illusions out so as to get the most out of your heal.
You will also have a trait that will remove a condition when u heal. Although this will seem week at first you will find that it is very useful to get rid of confusion weakness crippled immobilize and many more

7) phantasmal disenchanter

This is going to be our main condition removal. This skill is actually the best utility condition removal in the game. It removes boons from them. Conditions from you. Has a very low cool down(even more so when traited. Like we are) does around 300-700 damage, and can be used for your shatters. Really it can’t get any better than that.

8)decoy.
This is going to be your main source of survival. Because we are traited this skill will be on a 32 secound cool down instead of a 40 secound cool down. This skill is simply amazing. It will break stuns. Break target. Allow you time to heal/summon phantasms (phantasms will not break you out of stealth) and best of all because of the low cool down you will be a slippery ninja in the day giving nightmares to any poor soul stupid enuf to cross your path.

9 )blink.
This skill is for many things. But the biggest of reasons is 1 its A stun breaker. Which will save your life more times than you can count, and 2. It is a perfect counter for immobilize and crippled, and can be used to get you out of a sticky situation.

10) mass invisability

There are many good mesmer elites. Moa morph can be a game ending if it hits. But it can be a kitten if it does not hit. That cool down makes this skill very inconsistent and will most of the time be useless in team fights. Or against people that actually know what they are doing.

Time warp is good but the cool down makes this skill inconsistent as well. And because of the new nerf to quickness it really is not worth it.

Mass invis however is a nice all around skill. I would consider it more of a utility skill however. It has the Same cool down as vale. But gives 1 second more invis. Because of the moderately low cool down for a elite skill you can be sure that you will use this skill 2-3 times a fight. And invis for a mesmer means mental pain for the enemy. Which can be fun to watch XD

A word of advice though. It has a pretty long cast time. So make sure you have some way of defending yourself so you will not be interrupted. I use distortion, diversion, and the mesmer focus pull( can be used mid cast if you have curtain down already)

11)Weapon sigils.

My main sigil is energy. I have 1 energy sigil on my greatsword and another on my focus. The sigil of energy is simply amazing for mesmer with the clones on dodge trait, and really being able to dodge twice as much can make you feel untouchable if you know what you are doing.

The last sigil(on the mainhand sword) is up to you. I would suggest accuracy or sigil of perception.

And I would advise not using a sigil that procs because if you do then sometimes when you swap weapons the energy sigil will not kick in.

12)Runes.
Really the rune is up to you. I would suggest keeping one that gives you at least 10 critical damage. The best ones I think are runes of rage rune of divinity, and ruby orbs(for those of you who are poor)

I personally use ruby orbs.

Well that’s my walk through for my build. Hope you enjoyed it. Good luck with your new mesmer build.
