I love the torch, love cleansing conflag, even without PU i still love the trait. I love the look of it, iv’e actually been working toward my first legendary, which is the torch, for months now. That phatasm tho, really frustrates me to death. I’ve tried to modify my build countless times, to try and get a little more use out of him. I’ve specced illusion do 15% more damage, which really wasn’t remarkable. Illusionairy haste, which i didn’t notice a difference. I took the bouncing trait, and then i found out his attack doesn’t really bounce.

I’m at the point now of running pistol off hand, with null feild, and honestly, it just feels superior in every sense. I have very decent condition removal, the magic bullet isn’t as awesome as the prestige, but it’s neat. And the phantasm actually endangers the enemy! Has anyone had any luck with this? If so any tips to help my guy fall back in love with the torch would be appreciated.

torch usage is only for condition builds atm, as the phantasm dmg is very low…, it only applies 3 stacks of confusion on enemy and grants you 3 secs of retaliation which is not very remarkable for a phantasm of 30 secs CD. this phantasm really needs a buff….
I agree with u , i love the look of torches and how it fits in a mesmer, but atm is not worth to spend such amount of money in a expensive skin as torch only fits in a very few builds

Well if you do a condition damage build it does insane amounts of damage.

The phantasm? Sadly not.
3 stacks of Confusion are ok, but not at this short a duration and this low a cadence.

The Phantasm ruins the weapon – it’s horrible and it’s 50% of torch (2 skills).

Hrm… but the torch feels ok even given the weak Phantasm, so I suspect if it’s getting buffed, Prestige is getting a nerf somewhere. And I do like me Prestige, even with the nerfed blast-finisher. Used to be able to utilize it to “carry” a blast finisher.

The torch is very good when traited or you have PU. Otherwise it is really lack luster even with high Condition Damage. When it is traited at least the phantasm will remove conditions along with Prestige and when you have PU Prestige becomes an awesome defensive and offensive tool (With both Prestige really is our best stealth skill IMO) but without either I can’t justify taking it with the phantasm in the current shape it is in. While the confusion is always nice even with such a low amount of it it just doesn’t do the work say an iDuelist or iWarden or iBerserker could do(Among others.) These phantasms just outshine iMage by such a high degree it is sad.

If they do end up buffing him I would say make the attack bounce, prefer enemies, add 5 stacks of confusion, and maybe change the buff it gives(Protection maybe?) Before I conclude though I would like to say this is all my opinion after using the torch for such a long time but that phantasm just doesn’t pull its weight.

The torch is more for surrviability and synergy in condition setups with 20/x/30/x/x builds due to the stealth and condition removal.

The pistol will give you a ton of bleeds and nice CC, but less defensive ability.
