So, I’ve been looking at some WvW stuff recently and have had some thoughts, here they are:

-In the Earth Keep of the new Desert Map for WvW, there are two mechanics that stuck out to me: Earthen walls and Sandstorm. If you have a single Earth Shrine, earth walls will pop up and stop you as you approach throughout the canyon area around the Earth Keep. Mesmers, however, might have some plays to ignore these walls using Blink to get past the barrier before triggering them then using Portal to move parts of your squadlings over.
-Sandstorm gives us Perma-Stealth while in it. PU is of course the first thing that comes to mind.
-Stability change has caused WvWers to go into a “Pirate Ship” meta panic. Now, I’m unsure if this has been tested, but can Signet of Inspiration double up Stability stacks? If so, we might be a powerful set of supporters for amping up our team’s melee pushes.
-Of course, we’ll be Veil-Bots still, but perhaps we might become more important with our use of Veil to get by the CC-fields.

Thoughts, anyone, of what we might be able to bring with the HoT changes to WvW? Or do you think we’ll stay unimportant tertiary WvW professions?

I don’t see why Signet of Inspiration wouldn’t work for stability, but I haven’t tested it. It would be kind of odd if it worked differently for one boon.

Yes signit of inspiration shares the mesmers stability stacks, doubling the parties stacks. Few problems though.

  • 1 Mesmer for every 4 other players is just bad. Might aswell bring another guard for more stability application.
  • Mesmer players arent bountiful to begin with.
  • Necro’s are still the real problem. Corrupt boons destroys all.
  • Zergs can already stack to 25 stabos for a push. The trouble is 25 stacks is gone in a couple seconds.
  • Veil’s already had a place in pushes. It doesn’t actually change anything, nice as that might be.

Initially I thought Mes might bring some cool stuff to the HoT field. After thinking about it for a bit, with the exception of portal to bypass chokes etc, it’s just going to be same old same old. Specializations are the only hope for change.

Feedback may get a lot more play, but that’s about it. The much hyped “verticality” is going to make our need for direct LOS on most of our skills even more painful.

ANet doesn’t consider us anything more than an intelligent extra utility bar for the rest of the professions.

Signet of Inspiration has 45 seconds cooldown, Stand Your Ground traited is 24s iirc. So it’s a really poor way of doubling your stacks if you consider popping only 1 SYG per push.
