You’re confusing terminology. Rune of guardian procs when you use an actual block for an attack, not ‘blocking missiles’.
Missiles will be destroyed when knock on certain skill walls, kind of like thieves’ smoke screen etc

Unless you use shield block on pistol whip (x9), blurred frenzy (x8), rapid fire (x10), flame jet (x10), hundred blade (x8) or stand within AoE with guardian etc……seems only fitting for certain situation but actually quite a lot of options.
I was testing that with a guardian against a mesmer friend before. Using heal to get 8+ burn from blurred frenzy + shatter after I got immobilized does hurt quite a bit.
But definitely a bad idea against necro’s unblockables AoE/Wells lol. And not so useful against ele as well.
Still, I guess it’s a decent rune option if you’re bunkering in Cele or Dire gear.
(Though I’d be more inclined to something like Melandru or Dolyak. And also Knight or Cavalier over Dire or Cele. But, I mean, I’m not the boss of you.)

Yeah, this is the build I’m mulling over.
The 1-second duration is pretty bad (though in WvW, the food gets you 1.4 seconds).
But you can keep a very high block uptime with a build like this. No doubt that good players will avoid hitting the blocks (and especially hitting multiple times), but you can still generate a few illusions and shatter them along with confusing images. I’m guessing most players will eventually try to attack or will give up and go away. Since I mostly roam in WvW and play defense in Stronghold, those are okay outcomes for me
Unless they stealth fix the trait (heh stealth fix), I wouldn’t recommend Malicious sorcery if you intend to hurt opponent by blocking. From what I remembered in the past MS affect ALL weapon skill when you are wielding scepter, so it’ll reduce your blocking time like what quickness does.
Ah, thx. I wondered about how Malicious Sorcery might affect the block.
Given that, this is probably a better version of this idea. The 1 second burns from the blocks still feel like they probably are underwhelming, but I might try experimenting with it.
