“Mentoring engineers / mesmers and showing you what you can do with your fantastic class!
Just pm me for my advice! Always eager to help!”
Heya anyone.
I made some toughts on the timewarp and it’s ridiculous long cd combines with it’s medicore use in PvE. When do we use TW? At boss fights for 10 sec +50% dmg … hm.
What would you say if the timewarp wouldn’t only grant quickness? It should feel like a giant dome of “I’m fast, you’re not”-ness
The idea was: It should grant quickness, swiftness, overcharge and chill. Overcharge would be the opposite of chill. It’s a boon that lets your CD’s recharge faster.
What do you think??
greez
logically.. condition should be > boons
as percentage times u can get clearence > boon rip
10 sec +50% dmg
x5
I don’t know why they don’t make it a Glamor field so at least some traits can affect it.
It’s still better than most of the other elites other classes are stuck with.
I always thought Quickness increases skill recharge and movement speed as well. If not, then that would be my suggestion, no need to add boons to Time Warp, boons can be ripped, stolen, or worst, corrupted.
It felt like an elite skill when it doubled attack speed. Now that it only has a a 50% increase, it’s just okay. If they added a chill to enemies and made it a glamour field, it could be great again.
10 sec +50% dmg
x5
That’s not entirely accurate.
Cooldowns don’t go down any faster and conditions don’t tick any faster, so unless you’re able to do a full rotation in 10 seconds as a direct damage build, you’re not actually getting +50% damage.
x5
It was a good skill in PVE bevor the nerv. All Skills that applied quickness were decreased from 100% to 50% but got doubled their duration, except Timewarp.
So in my opinion Time Warp could use a Buff, like hitting 10 Targets instead of 5.

THIS! Or just last longer / get cd reduced?? T_T anything I would be happy

Because in general, elites are weak enough without being locked by your trait selection. Or rather, all elites on all classes should always have the power as if their applicable traits were already applied. So that elite is chosen by circumstances, not by traits.
Nearly every class can trait the elite spells:

The only 2 Classes that can’t trait any elitespell are Guardian and Mesmer

All classes can trait their elites. That being said, the traits that affect glamour skills are quite powerful and could make Time Warp OP in PvP, which is probably why ANet doesn’t want to change its type.
If I remember correctly, long long time ago TW also gave you stability while you’re in it with 100% faster action. Now now, the problem was……. other classes have access to quickness too. The MAIN reason it was nerfed is not because of time warp itself but because of those quickness that other classes have. Backstab thieves melted everyone’s face with 100% faster cast (yeah, they don’t have cast time after all so 100% +dmg for you), this also included rapid fire, hblades, etc..
It seems, once again, that what is supposed to be for mesmers can be executed at a much greater efficiency by other professions.
lol…. I’m glad I finally got over my mesmer and moved on to other professions.
I never thought about it but yeah, it makes sense time warp should be a glamour type skill so it can benefit from glamour traits.
all the other buffs make no sense at all.
what is an elite ?
an elite is a skill no other profession can perform it is a specialization of sorts of your class mastery, so ok, but wait !
warrior has quickness !
thief has haste !
engies have haste !
so to make mesmer elite actually an elite it should be the only skill that provides quickness with 100% speed increase instead of 50%, otherwise it’s not an elite it’s just yet another quickness skill.
The only thing that they should do is make it a glamour field. But then all the people would be complaining in pvp about all the confusion proccing from projectile finishers at an even more rapid speed!

The only other profession that can grant penalty-free AoE Quickness is Guardian, and they only do it via an elite skill that requires 3s to get up (1s from the Tome + 2s from the skill). So no, Warrior, Thief, Ranger and Engi don’t have anything like Time Warp, especially if we’re not talking solo-only.
Time Warp is still pretty good for an elite skill. Most GW2’s elites are quite underwhelming in general, but that’s more of a game design problem and not a balance issue.

You need to check up elixir X.
Forgive me if I’m wrong, but isn’t timewarp the only AoE quickness skill in the game that has no drawbacks (hence the elite status and long cooldown timer)?
Before the nerf to quickness/haste, timewarp was, imo, the definitive standard for what an elite skill should be: powerful, large effect radius, and gave the entire team a very noticeable benefit.
At the time, it seemed like it was the only skill to match the developer preview’s statements about elite skills that were so powerful, people didn’t want to use it early because the long cooldowns meant the skill was effectively out of the fight for a while.
