Q:

So for a while now I’ve been struggling finding tips and build guides for a PvE Mesmer. All I’ve seen are threads complaining about how bad they are in PvE, which I find very hard to believe. So I’ve complied a few builds for PvE and was hoping to get a few words of wisdom from some veteran Mesmers.

This first one is just a standard GS that uses direct damage, phantasms, and survivorbility.

This next one is a Sword/(Focus, Pistol). I use it as a shatter build but also tried to put some toughness and vitality in there to make it a little better for staying alive and in the fray.
Please give me your opinions and tips, I love the Mesmer but I need some guidance!

Can you url-shrink them? The ‘;’ in their links bug out in the GW2 forums.

Most guides focus more on Wv3 and PvP in general, but they work fairly well in PvE too. I for one think that survivability in PvE is mostly a result of knowing your enemy and knowing when do dodge. That’s why my builds focus is on high sustained damage with some utility to escape.

I personally run GS and Sword/Focus. As things die fast most of the time anyway, I have grown tired of phantasm builds, as they feel sort of slow compared to shatter builds.

My guide is in my signature, feel free to give it a read.

I would recommend LazyKai’s guide. I just leveled 1-80 in just under a month’s time using his guide. I varied off it a little bit when I was running into certain issues in PvE, but on the whole it made leveling very easy. I zoomed through the “difficult” levels of 1-40 and had few if any problems. I did no crafting to bypass any levels either.
