I’m looking into builds that use torch in competitive modes like PVP, WvW. I notice that when I’m wielding a torch there’s an area glow around me — even when I’m stealthed. Do enemy players see it too?

A long while ago I was curious regarding this and tested having my friend send me screen shots of their perspective.

Pretty much from what I can tell (unless things have changed) glow effects from weapons/ most bundles/ and back items are only visible to the player using it.

So regardless of poping a stealth, standing still with cobalt (best flashlight in game imo ;p) or using ‘The Prestige’ with a rather bright torch, other players will see absolutely no area light from your weapon beyond the default animations.

This also means with certain weapons you can get better vision in dark rooms such as torch room in OS.

Doubtful, I’ve seen mesmers do prestige (and other stealth forms) and I would see absolutely nothing.

This single line made me remember how much I miss the days when the OS jumping puzzle was a hotly contested pvp gauntlet.

I remember it as some (expletive)s sitting on top of the dome with arrow carts while spamming emotes.

Any ‘glow’ effects, eg torch, Fires of Balthazar Skin etc are only visible for the player wearing it.

However, the prestige/stealth torch skill, when you reveal ( but have more stealth duration stacked) anyone can see the ‘blast’ animation, even if you are not revealed/still in stealth.

So basically dont worry about any glow effects making the ground/area around you glow when you are in stealth. It is only animations/skill effects that are visible while in stealth.
