Trait in Question:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Rending_Shatter
Shatter skills inflict vulnerability on hit.

I would like to know if any of you is using this trait and if so, why and where?

In most scenarios we can already apply plenty vulnerability to foes with the minor traits in domination. Groups will have no problem reaching 25 stacks since many classes bring passiv vulnerability anyway and solo the 15% of Empowered Illsions is better.
The only option is maybe to have a high spike shatter but instead I could go with a F3 Shatter first and gain much more.

So, what are your thoughts on this?

Honestly I think this trait is mostly used in PVP. In a classic shatter build with the lines domination, illusion and dueling, you wouyld then apply lot of on vulnerability on foes and get tons of might per shattered illusions.
What you can also do is go condi since vulnerability now affects the damages in condi builds. And this possibility could be applied in Pve builds I guess.
What is also interesting, in a PVP point of view, is that you could maybe forget about the illusion line and compensate the loss of might stacking through shattered illusion by taking the GS grandmaster trait, while still applying enough vulnerability on foes

Nah, the trait isn’t used in PvP either. Compounding suggestions blows it out of the water.

Nah~ If you’re going Domination, every other trait is more useful.

You already gain vulnerability with daze shatter, easily capping to 25 stacks of vulnerability with great sword 2 skill. This daze is only 8 seconds long and it’s only 1 stack. Other traits are way better.

Well ok, I’ll stick my hand up for possible ridicule. I use it in a PvE solo condition build.
Dom, Duel and Illusions. The vulnerability on this trait and Dazzling is 8 sec. I run 95% condition duration which translates to 15 sec duration on the vulnerability.
A 4 illusion Diversion shatter on for instance Sc/T (a weapon set with no vulnerability) Instantly spikes 24 stacks of vulnerabilty, 4 Torment and 4 confusion. I try to load up via Geomancy, CoF etc after that to capitalise on the extra condition damage. Stun would work against me and Empowered Illusions is irrelevant in a condition build. Its the high vulnerability stacks i want.

The trait is too weak to compare with other traits even though it is directly aimed at shatter build. I don’t know how anet missed it but there it is.

If it’s just gonna add vulner it should at least inflict 2 or 3 stacks per illusion. As of now the vulner stacking through shatter is done better through minor trait instead of an actual major trait which is aimed to do just that (ironic, I know).
