Heya everyone!


Phantasms have gained a special threatment to balance our profession. I’m talking about inheriting stats. No other minions or pets inherit the main stats of the owner, only phantasms copy power, precision, ferocity, vitaliy, condition damage, and so on and so on.

But ever since they’ve also lacked another special threatment. They always were a big part of our damage, but they did not benefit from runes and sigils, nor bufffood that had some sort of % modifer on them. For example scholar runes, sigil of force or accuracy, seaweed salad, etc.

We endured it bravely and just started to live with this unfairness. But since HoT we have just completly lost in term of damage because of that behavor…


Every profession greatly benefits from a 100% quickness and alacrity uptime, between 33% up to 50% damage, depending on how much aa or cd skills dependend the profession is.

However the Chrono again only benefits like ~half from those buffs. Phantasms will never have quickness nor alacrity unless you are soloing. This is the straw to break the camel’s back. We need some special threatment for phantasms.


I suggest we get a trait (best would be a minor) in the chronomancer traitline, that will share quickness and alacrity to our phantasms when we recieve it. This way we would become much stronger in both terms of support and damage.

It would also have a positive impact on our gameplay since the deserved alacrity nerf passively increased all of our skills cds. With avengers under the effect of alacrity we would also be able to use another type of phantasm to support or deal damage, without feeling bad due not shaing alacrity to the utmost efficiency.

I’m ok with phantasms not getting quickness. Most phantasms use a low duration attack, limiting the impact of quickness. Wardens are negatively impacted.

However, phantasms getting alacrity when we do really should have been baked into the spec. It’s absurd that our signature buff doesn’t actually end up working on 60% of our damage.

Then again, while we’re discussing pipe dreams, phantasmal haste working on shield phants would be pretty cool too, and I’d be pretty ok with mesmers getting a use outside of portal and moa in PvP.

Don’t phantasms get alacrity from our AOE alacrity (wells or shield) as long as no other target has priority?

I know it does not help at all in group environment, but it does at least boost our solo DPS.

Pick one:

  1. Soloing something challenging enough to care about alacrity means you’re unable to stand still long enough to get the benefit from wells onto yourself, let alone phantasms
  2. Soloing something easy enough that you don’t care either way

3. Keep on to supporting party/squad cause soloing will be a struggle anyway.

Realisticly phantasms will never benefit from alacrity. Even solo on HotM golems u cant cover all phantasms with your well radius… Random spawns/ attacks range will always end up with one or other out of alacrity range. On pve content its impossible.
Also, quickness has no impact on their dps…. If they kept passive alacrity on them, thats another story… Dream on fellow mesmers.

Technically quickness does have an impact on dps, it’s just a very small one. Since the skill recharge doesn’t begin until the skill is done executing, faster execution from quickness leads to an earlier start for the recharge. This would really only be noticeable on duelists and wardens, and would be objectively a bad thing on wardens, so I’m not too eager to see it happen.

I know that most impact would be alacrity and not quickness, it’d just make it more balanced between slow and fast attackers. On second tought I’d rather take alacrity only, since warden should attack as long as possible and pistol … well who cares about pistol anyway Q_Q

So yea – alacrity for phantasms + ph for avenger please!!!
