Trident Clones and Confusion
Yep, it’s a known bug.
The clones use a previous beta version of the trident auto-attack, Siren’s Call, which before being changed used to cause confusion. I believe the staff clones also use a beta version of Winds of Chaos, where each projectile only travels along the ground plane.
Bug.
They are using an old version of the Trident 1-attack that Mesmers had before the current precursor that lacks all Conditions and has a few boons. Older version had Confusion and Healed a little on allies it bounced off of. Sorta like how Staff Clones are still using the older Winds of Chaos that travels on the ground and has horrible difficulty to hit/reach a target not on a flat plane from the Clone.
That said, I know I’ll hate underwater combat with the Trident once they fix this. The Trident’s 1-skill hits really weakly, only a 1/3rd chance of boon to actually help kill something, and no conditions. The only thing that helps make up for this, is the fact those Trident Clones apply Confusion to make up for the weak damage and no conditions like Bleeds, Burns, Poisons, and Confusions on the Mesmer’s current Trident-1.

The Trident is supposed to be our ranged/condition damage underwater weapon, but with the removal of Confusion from Siren’s Call the only thing still making it somewhat condition based is the Clone bug.

I know, I’m totally going to miss it when it goes too. Mostly I really miss being able to maintain confusion with the scepter, but at least our downed skill #1 still evokes that old sense of feeling really powerful through constant confusion.
Has this been confirmed as a bug? I mean if it is and they remove it then we won’t really have a condition weapon underwater.
Also it is the only time confusion is useful in PvE so I hope they don’t.
