Does this trait now make phantasm build slightly more viable in zergs? In the past phantasms would just die as soon as they spawned in the middle of a zerg, but if your zerker has a second of invulnerability, will it be able to get its spin off and actually do some damage? What about the sword, pistol, and focus phantasms?

It makes phantasms as viable as having them do 1 single spin of damage is viable.

…no. It really changes almost nothing. Even in big fights, the iZerker would usually get off at least part of its spin. Triumphant distortion changes almost nothing.

hm, that’s too bad I really wish we had some zerg dps options. Pyros build doesn’t even work any more with the mimic change.

We do actually have some pretty solid zerg dps options now. What I’ve been running with just to experiment is gs+sw/focus, 20/30/0/20, traiting the focus, 3x mantras, and then taking mantra of pain and the heal mantra (and sometimes the stab mantra). Between the bigger mind stab and mantra of pain, along with well timed mirror blade/iZerkers, you actually do very solid damage. I traited the focus just because it’s extremly useful as a tool for area control, and every now and then the warden lives for long enough to spin a little.

It helps slightly, but the problem is phantasms have 0.75s of internal cd, so triumphant distortion only helps 0.25s while phantasm is attacking.
With the izerker you can tag more people, but still there room for much improvement. I think phantasms cd should be reduced to 0.5s and distortion gained should be 1.5s.
Focus has get some buffs, but I still like more the torch.

Nowadays, I see 2 viable options: Shatter build and playing with bursts, or a phantasm/mantra support build.

If they upped the phantasm duration to at least 5 seconds and maybe have it interact with masterful reflection perhaps it could be competitive for a GM trait.

Isn’t the phantasm suppose to also reflect with masterful distortion?

Yes, it is supposed to do that. So is the mesmer, when triumphant distortion procs.

Do either work? No, of course not. When will they start working? I’d say late 2015 as a guess.

that sounds like optimism. I will say they will fix it 2016, but they will have to break iwarden 2 more times before they get it right.
