I have been playing different versions of phantasm builds with this being my most current experiment:
current build
I was dueling a guard the other day and could not down him before we were interrupted by a few of his friends and I had to leave. I was never in any danger of dying to the guard, as he never had me below ~70% health, but I could not seem to burst him down. Several times I had him to ~20% but couldn’t finish him before he shot back up to 100% again.

I have considered going to something with more interrupts:
Potential Build

Any thoughts/improvements to the build or general advise against high defensive/healing guards would be appreciated.

get him away from his symbols (most likely takes symbols heal) and load up burst as best as you can, imo the one daze you have is usually enough since the only thing you can realistically interrupt is his main heal, your first build is actually better equipped to fight a guardian (imo) because boon stealing is pretty important against a boon-slinger class.

my advice is basically spray and pray, interrupt his heal skill and hope to high heavens that your burst will be enough to take him down before he can load up a block/symbol/some form of healing.

that or you could try a more glassy type shatter build, 10/30/0/0/30 with GS for zerker phantasm.

I used to run shatter builds for the longest time. I am trying to stay in the phantasm realm for build choices.

I’ve duelled quite a few bunker guards, the key is to keep constant pressure on them and INTERUPT that main big heal. With that first build you posted, you have 3 sources of interrupt, F3 Shatter, Pistol 5 and Chaos storm. You can also save Arcane Thievery for when they pop stability or regen. If you get them on the back foot, interrupt that heal they can actually be quite easy to take down.

Guardians are the foil to our phantasm build. This is due to their durable nature and retaliation which ends up destroying your phantasms quickly. Confusion never seemed to work well against them either because guardians are typically slow.

The only way I can routinely drop a guardian in good time is via a vulnerability shatter build. Such builds have good interrupts which help as well.
