After watching Vashury’s amazing shatter vid, I’m giving shatter another shot.

Going to give it a week…even if it kills me. Most of my WvW is solo or small group roaming.

Would you do anything differently than he did for WvW. Gear/Talents/Sigils

Have fun roaming with 30 rangers shooting you 10k from 1500 yards out of nowhere just when you’re winning a 1v2/1v3.
Seriously, it’s not worth roaming anymore with so much random bullkitten no matter what you play. All about the cheese.

I solo roam in WvW all the time. ^~^ It can be fun, even if you do die a lot as a solo shatterer. I eat lemongrass food before I leave spawn. It helps with the condis a lot of people are running with. Oh, and I have Hoelbraek runes. I trait for the 1200 range blink to get out of sketchy situations. I don’t run a lot of condi clear (mender’s purity, arcane thievery, null field, mantra condi cleanse, etc.) because I’m going to die if I get pew pew’d or ganged up on while already engaged in another fight. I use blink, mirror images, decoy and mass invis. I watched a little bit of the video (am at work :X) and I could not see his food/runes/etc. If anyone has a link to the build, I’d appreciate it! If not, I’ll check tonight at home. Good luck in WvW!

Get to know your tunnels , ruins and tower design. Find a bunker spot where you can lure ppl into these tight spaces and watch them melt. Avoid open space like plague.

I like running full zerker with a few zerker/valk pieces and the speed runes to get over 20k health with guards stacks (The on hit swiftness helps loads with kiting or catching people). I’ve also found that running with air + fire on the GS is awesome with the quick attack rate, throw in omnomberry pie for even more on crit effects and some sustain. After that it’s all about using your abilities at the right time and not on cool down.

Honestly between the torch trait, mantra of resolve, high stealth uptime and a vitality cushion I don’t really have problems with condis unless I get locked up and take a full on burst to the face.

Also I’ll second what Mogar said.. If you’re not using the terrain to your advantage you’re doing it wrong.

Depends on the server you play on. I play on a Silver Tier server, and I never find a 1v1, always a 2 or 3 vs me and it sucks. You usually have a punk ranger spammy spammy the Rapid Fire, a cheese nadegineer, and a kitteny thief/warrior.

When I babysit my friend’s account on Anvil Rock I usually have an easier time solo roaming. (Bronze Tier server, no one is ever on and a lot more people solo roam.)

Myself, I usually do better running CI Lockdown with staff+sword/pistol and sucking up the loss of speed. I don’t run centaur or trav runes. Zerker with Mesmer runes, blink, mantra of distraction, and decoy with mass invis., usually. One of us will die (or run away…)!

1st night of WvW kittenter Observations

*When people are in groups, they are too confident. If I am running towards a group of 3-6, they don’t always use defensive skills…..many times, they used NONE.

*In the open, it’s tough to lock someone down to apply ALL my possible damage. Many Run, or try to bait me into uneven fights—-and in open field, d/p thieves ugh.

The video that vash put up is great for showing combos—-using those combos in real situations where classes are immune to damage, dodging, blocking, friends come to help gank the mes———well $ ** just got real

6 more days I’m forcing myself to play Shatter-

One last thing.. with my internet connection the way it is, I can’t count on what I’m seeing.

Here is the build I use now. The energy sigils help you dodge moar (create more clones to shatter). I use Illusionary Invigoration vs Illusionary Elasticity when I am solo. It really helps you have access to your shatters when you hit 50% health. I go through a lot of food because I’ll start with the Lemongrass/-% condi duration food when I roam and when I see an enemy(ies) doesn’t have lots of condis, I’ll swap to my power food/Curry soup. I switch weapons depending on how I feel like playing that night, BTW. ^~^

Please don’t judge these vids too harshly. I know I’m some kind of terrible, LOL, but this is what you see in Silver league and even in Bronze League sometimes as a power shatterer that roams solo.

Fighting a staff ele near her buffed camp. – I don’t mind open areas. It gives me space to move around and really put my 1200 traited blink to use. You’re going to want to learn to kite and also think of what their next attack is going to be like. In the end, I am fighting two eles and it’s just too much for my skill level, especially because the sylvari ele is a decent player.

Now if the players are new to the game or their class, that is when 1+ players is managable for me. These two guys seem pretty new. Normally a necro and engi should be able to kill me pretty quickly.

Also, these guys made a few mistakes. A few of them pushed into a buffed camp and wiped probably because of the RI supervisor. :X FYI, skip to the middle of the vid. The first part of the vid is there because a friend asked me to show how to flip a camp w/ my build.

Fighting two thieves. If I were a bit better at mesmer stuffs, I think I’d have downed one at least.

Here’s normally what happens to me. I try to engage 1 to fight and others peel for him. Cue Lich form or Supply Crate, a burst and emote spamming. XD

I really hope you stick with the solo roaming. I know a lot of people have stopped solo roaming and go with gank squads now or even the zerg. Whatever you decide to do, I hope you play the game how you enjoy. Perhaps you could duo roam with a thief or a guardian. I’ve seen more and more people opt for that. Good luck & have fun! ^~^

Sigils of Energy, at least 3 sources of stealth, build a little bit of armor (don’t go full zerker then complain about dying), get one or two sources of condi removal, using staff also helps.

For maximum survivability, I’d stick to the small group roaming. Eles pair nicely with their aoe damage/heals/boons/condi removal. Guards too.

Sadly this is my experience too, key word is “solo” however.

I never was a big fan of solo roaming (I play MMOs because of the social component mostly), but during the season it’s really hard to find any roamers, at least where I’m playing right now… and, yeah, I agree with Doiid… all the cheese.

It’s not that I want to ‘solo’ roam because I’m anti social. Roaming alone is convenient. I don’t know anyone that knows 4 people who will just drop what they are doing and group up at a moments notice.

I would, provided I’m not in the middle of a dungeon ha ha. Hell, I’d be happy with even ONE decent partner.

Would you roam with me in the future?

If your power based, other bursty specs are fun to run with. Power rangers melt things, provide a little more utility and dmg— and it’s a blast

I’d be happy to run a dungeon once in a while if someone would explain what was going on

Keys to controll are, CC and aggression, just unleash all you got (almost) and then disapear, then back in. When you’re aggressive and force them to defensive play you’ve won. For the disengage part, traited blink and ileap is fantastic. See youself as a needle, sting people and gtfo, dont slash and whirl around, you’ll break.

Before I start roamin I always warm up with some different shatters on the mobs near the spawn and try different rotations.

^^^YES^^^ I know I can get better but for the sake of enjoying the game, I just go balls out, jump in, lay people out as best I can, chaining attacks and shatters and then I bounce!

I try to play as aggresively as possible, just not thinking about it—and find a unique position to place myself after the attack usually with a good blink. After the attack, I try to get in their blind spot and I rinse and repeat my mesmers fury unto them yaks bend rage bait turtling kooks

The following, I just ignore
-My connection can really suck at times.
-I dont get to see everything I do, I have to trust that it happens
-I may not have the perfect runes or sigils, boo hoo me
-I probably dont have the PERFECT food
-I know I dont have stacks, cause preparing to have fun, is not having fun.

^I ignore all that min maxing bull and just play. When I have time and I’m tired, I can mess around wtih stats/gear/food and sigils

For now, I am having a BLAST!

The key to not get frustrated in solo roaming with shatter build is to play smart.Know your limit,where you are,and what could happen during your fight.Play safe,and you will have fun.

P.S just got killed 3 times by the same 2 zerkbows roaming about and im not even mad.

You don’t really need the pricy food or stacking sigils. You don’t even have to have exotics. As for your connection, the people in Straya know dem feels, LOL. Some of the skillful players I know play with lag. From what I hear, you’ve just got to be on your toes and anticipate/be super fast with your gameplay.

As they said, ^, when you find yourself getting frustrated, step back and gain some perspective. The pew pew rangers inside towers? They just want bags/kills, not a fair fight. That’s how they have fun. I forgot to mention you should be a mini map gazer. Watch what flips, when, and how fast. You should be able to skirt around the zergs and gank squads. The gank squad that just took you out? They’ve probably been run over by the map zerg at least once that day/night.

Oh. If the stars align and I happen to get a 1v1, I party the person, whether I downed them or they downed me, and ask if they’d like to have a couple more duels. You make a friend and get to goof off for a bit and QQ about zergs. XD
