This would be a very good solution.
They seem to go with whatever changes are most called for on the SPvP forums. Honestly, it’s like lock step with them. That makes it hard to balance. Balancing PvP and PvE are very different things, I’d think. Not sure why they won’t just split them
I understand this patch in the context of pvp. But for pve you just lose so much group-potential, now I can’t really buff my group well anymore so I am going back to full-berserk mode. Just brain-afk autoattack mode since I don’t have anything useful to do. Exceptions are bosses where I have to use feedback – so yeah every 40 seconds I will go come back from firefox to the game.
Many of us have been asking for that.
Funny thing is all nerfs thiefs got where s/tpvp only.

It’s the perfect excuse to not balance PvE at all and just allow stupid overpowered kitty to exist. Ursan, Cry, Shadowform, for example. And because they were PvE-only, it took them a YEAR each to notice they were ruining the game and do something about it.
(Not implying Shadowform is fine now, but it was nerfed at least. And SoS is still unfixed, afaik.)

Actually splitting pvp and pve is the perfect excuse to have everything more balanced to the context they are inserted, that’s a good example, SS was op in pvp but good in pve, where mesmers aren’t good like others classes.
Balancing skills so they are good in both pve/pvp are harder than having skill only to be balanced on one of the two side and as we can see Anet is not capable of doing balanced skills on both sides.

Do note that they are able to and have already split certain abilities for PvE and sPvP. They seem to try not to do it that much, though, which is good.
Since the game was released not a single patch was suitable for a mesmer in pve (excluding SS because that lasted what? 2 weeks and for shatter spam builds ONLY). Anet don’t give a kitten about how mesmers are in pve and that shows.
I’m all for a split. Different types of combat needs different styles and having the same skills for both is just bad design. PvE has got “stupid” enemies with large health pools while pvp has got more intelligent enemies but with lesser health.
I’m deceived that u didnt have a look at pve at which the greatswordmesmer now is very weak again compared to other classes.

How about WAIT AFTER FIXING A BUG THAT CAUSES 100% EXTRA DAMAGE BEFORE NERFING SOMETHING ELSE
Every other AAA mmo is more deliberate about their balance process.
They nerfed the ever loving bejesus out of might stacking without even waiting to see the impact of mind wrack NOT doing 100% extra damage.

Players are considered 1st, 2nd and 134th tier PvE(that 80 guardian fella who died from deer, I know you’re reading this :p), not professions.

Heh, that joke is used way too often.
PvE and PvP enemies are so different that it’s straight out impossible to balance both without splitting skills. There’s just one problem: WvW, with both PvE and PvP elements.
