Use a Boost on Mesmer?
If you want to grind out the very expensive materials and learn the rotation for support Chrono in raids use a boost on a Mesmer.
If you want to play any other part of the game don’t touch Mesmer with a 10ft pole.
Power mesmer can now hit around 30k DPS with a free utility slot, so it viable for raiding without the gear requirements that chrono tank has.
If by viable you mean lower DPS then other classes and has to deal with the fact you can’t change targets sure. I guess just rolling your face across a keyboard is a viable way of playing the game too, not that fun though.
30k dps is not bad DPS. And with a 2 or 3 button rotation its much easier to hit close to that than it is on some other classes, so your % DPS will be higher than it might be on another class, which means your actual DPS will probably be higher on power mesmer as well.
Plus, what’s the top class at? 35k dps now? That’s not going to make any difference. If you couldn’t clear the boss with a power mesmer as a dps slot then that extra 5k dps (less actually in reality due to people not having perfect rotations), was not going to make your group beat the boss.
Stop trying to push this fairytale that you have to have the highest possible DPS of any class in order to be useful to a raid group. Most people are not in coordinated groups that are at that skill level to where it matters.

Oh look, completly ignores the mechanicle problems of Mesmer that I brought up, brings up the actions per minute meme as a serious conversation and then accuses me of saying things I never said.
Just another troll.
Power Mesmer isn’t bad but there are other good choices for DPS cause other DPS classes have cleave and don’t rely on Illusions.
1.power mesmer itself isn’t that bad but let’s be honest it doesn’t teach you anything and once you want to get better at game (dps wise) , you have to level a new class and learn the game again.
2.back to topic , op said FRACTAL play , let’s ignore the argument about whether power mes 30k dps . and tell the direct answer : DO NOT RUN POWER MES IN FRACTAL.
3.what you could run ? boon sharing Chrono , it’s a support role ,so see if that suits you ,for the exact build and rotation . you can check here :
https://qtfy.eu/guildwars/builds/
be aware , fractal potion gives you extra boon duration ,so the gear requirement between raid and fractal can be different .
4: off topic ,@OriOri.8724 i think power mesmer has 2 free utility slots , you are thinking of condi mes ? tho in most cases that 2 slots wont help much in raid .in fractal , feedback is nice ,and you can take AT or other boon removal .
Don’t boost a mesmer period.
You are an inexperienced player who has a pool of 8 classes to chose from for which none of which you have any experience. Mesmer should be your last pick if at all.
The class is complex enough and you will not enjoy starting it at level 80.
Boost one of the more traditional classes like warrior, ranger or guardian (all of which have viable endgame builds).
If you absolutely want a mesmer, get to know the game a bit better, then use scrolls and tomes of knowledge down the road to get one to level 80.
If you still don’t want to follow my aedvice, at least play the class to level 30 to get a feel for some of the skills, then boost.
