Valuable player losses
In closing I would love to hear the remarks from someone from Arena Net regarding what there reasoning is behind this patch with the so called fixes they have made for Mesmers specifically and what they plan to do in the what I would presume would be very near future to circumvent a mass halt of people playing/leaving this class/game.
I’d love to hear it too, but I won’t and neither will you. Firstly, it’s fourth of july week, so at the very earliest a response would be given next monday. Secondly, when in the entire existence of this game have developers explained the reasoning behind random nerfs like this?
Agreed but it would be nice to hear some ownership of what just happens and has been a shaky path of “bug fixes” throughout the existence of this game so far.

“Random”… It was a bug that allowed mesmers to use this skill as a guaranteed stun break instead of what it was intended for (not listed as a stun break either in the tooltips, and it still is even after this bug. also, how do you swap places with a clone that doesn’t exist? this is why it was fixed, if you ask that question you’ll understand why it was fixed – it goes against the very nature of the skill’s mechanic and what it was intended for) on a 9 1/2 second cooldown traited. It baffles my mind how mesmers thought this wasn’t beyond broken other than being completely biased towards their own class. I’ll ask this like I asked Chaos archangel. What if warrior’s had a bugged skill that allowed them a stun break on a 9 1/2 second cooldown traited? Or Engineer, ranger, or any other class? Thief did have one without a cooldown, it wasn’t even a bug and it was nerfed a long time ago – want to know why? I’ll let you guess why.

You can still stun break on the skill.
You can still stun break on the skill.
From my above post:
not listed as a stun break either in the tooltips, and it still is even after this bug fix.

Then are you arguing just to argue because no one here is complaining about the stun break?
Then are you arguing just to argue
Yes, this became clear a while ago.

This exactly.

It wasn’t that players were upset about the recent ileap fix. It was because there are many other bugs that were mentioned in other threads which are still not fixed. Another word, players are fine with the ileap fix if the developer team have fixed other bugs as well.

I think the true makers of the mesmer profession have long left ANet. Those who try to somehow sustain the profession are vision and clueless.
My mesmer has been shelved, the rare occasions I play GW2, I play on my necro.

Realistically though, what would you get from some dev taking the time to write here something like this:
“Yes, we’re aware that we screwed up. We fail, hard, and the forum community is correct, we can’t handle our own game. Also we contacted Chaos and Pyro, and are currently working on integrating them into the dev team.”
I exaggerated for a reason there.
This type of response is – ultimately – fan pandering. An angry player asking for this is just looking for emotional gratification and nothing else, something to vent their rage on.
Asking for this is – from the perspective of a community manager who reads the threads and sends a summary to the devs – the same type of trigger as “slap in the face”, “useless in all game modes”, “devs play XYZ” or “devs hate X, wai?!”. These threads are to be ignored, and your summary will include a foot note “Players are still raging” at the bottom. Mind you, that foot note is there every time because this is a MMO, and players always rage.
So long as a MMO has 2 players or more left playing, someone is going to want to see someone else nerfed.
My point is, if you’re looking for some sort of confirmation, you’re not going to get it. But you know ahead of time. So unless all we want to use the forum for is an echo chamber – and mind you, again, most MMO forums are just that – there’s very little reason to even post it.
Plus you know, Chaos lacks RL time. What do you want ANet to do? Send him 4 more hours, daily? Not really, right? You just needed a pretence to complain under.
If you’re unhappy, there is one and only one way to show it: Stop playing, stop coming to the forums, stop ever thinking “Guild wars 2” in your head. Because only a total lack of player interaction truly sends management into a frenzy.
If their ingame player count drops by 30% and their forum post volume by 75%, you can bet we’re going to see action within half a year at most. Either massive changes, or closing the game and moving on (though with 30%, I doubt they’d doom&finish it).
But so long as players keep coming to the forums, why would the management care? Lacking a subscription they see the gem store income, the player count and the forum activity. The second is rather meaningless so long as the first and the third are ok.
So if anyone wants to vote, don’t just vote with your wallet – that’s how you’d do it in a sub-based game.
If you really want to produce change, forget GW2 ever existed, and move elsewhere. That gets the manager’s attention, in volume.

It’s not “players always cry”.
I have 70% spvp games as mesmer and I RELAX when playing warrior, engie or even ele (that required ~skill kittenter mesmer). The big problem with mesmer is when you swithing from it to any another class (even if you never played it before) you do job MORE EFFECTIVE. Mesmer realy neaded only in few of thousand game moments, and neaded not his skill, just utilities.
wtf, why s.h_ a_ t_ t_ e_ r views at forum like kittenter

Snip.
Well said and I totally agree…. The one thing anet are not, is oblivious. They know exactly what’s going on in this forum and by ignoring the game in all its forms will get their attention as I’m sure they have already seen from some of the key figures in this community.

I know it’s not. The problem is, the spam of threads about this change and especially threads like this one make it seem like we’re just “doing the usual whining”.

Eh, you overestimate the amount of metrics they pull from the forums. They’ve said many times that the forums only represent a small part of the community itself. In-game metrics, that’s where they’re looking. If/when they see substantial drops in mesmer play in the game, they might take some action to alleviate it.

Not true.
1.They will happy if noone will speak about all bugs, bad mechanics etc. No crying → no problem → less work.
2. They will happy if all “key figures” will disappear, because “figures” have influence on community and could orginize activities devs not like. Remember Pyro when he created poll? or something like that

People whined for years about wars and it sometimes been nerfed. Same with another proffs. So this method still have some influence.

It might have in the past, but I can’t count how many mesmer bug posts there have been over the past couple of months and it still hasn’t gotten the attention it deserves. Complaining obviously isn’t helping us currently.

I love my Mesmer, but I’m truly disappointed that ArenaNet are seemingly ignoring the Mesmer community. It’s not the type of treatment I expected from the company at all, and almost sours my opinion of the class.
I keep holding out in hope that one day we’ll get THAT patch that is filled with Mesmer fixes we’ve been requesting for ages. But every time Mesmers have the smallest change log and every change involves tooltips, skills no one really uses/cares about, or nerfs.
It’s sad. Mesmers are one of the defining classes of Guild Wars. They shouldn’t be ignored.

Alas, in Guild Wars 2, the defining class is Wars.

I’m afraid we will run out of forum members earlier than we fix half of the list.
Excusemee but there was a really important question which is already asked —> ready up! —> balance philosophy will include large scale fights??? They already answered in offically yes!!! So… ? What s the reason of thAt ileap ?? Such shame from anet.. They Again ignoring gvg/raid based community.. Yes need answer .. I’m sorry, but I…just don’t see what all the uproar is about for Illusionary leap. How long are you actually going to wait to swap places with that clone anyway?
My only issue is when the clone dies the millisecond it was summoned – but if it got bursted down that fast, did I really want to be in its place when it happened? And I’m not quitting my mesmer just for this one update. Just…roll with it.
(That’s not to say I don’t wish there were a couple of other things that could have gotten attention)

90% of the times I used swap on Ileap. Clone was dead. Id say even. It added special combinations. Like make 2 clones. I leap. F4. Swap. Here u go. U in the face of the enemy with 3s of invulnerability. Helps in some situations. There was many tricks of this kind. And now they all gone.
