Veil for solo or small group use?
PU procs from other stealths too (i.e. thief group stealths) i would suggest having a thief in your roaming party not only for this but he can also stop downs and finish people off too, very very good in small roaming groups is the thief.
on top of that i would use Null Field instead of PU, Decoy and feedback/blink depending on the situation / proffesion combination your going to face.
Null Field – i chose this every time over Veil as its a boon and condition stripper, will also trigger chaos armor via staff blink or ileap, on top of that if your using pistol? watch the bleeds stack up!
I’d just stick with Mass Invis for small groups. I would only go Veil as a permanent option if I was using other glamours and had the CD reduction traited. Otherwise, Veil is simply an on-demand skill for zerg commanders.

Hi. If you invested into the 30 points chaos its absolut worth it, the extra boons and stealth is you best friend, and as a group tool its lovely. Every veil can be used 2 times so its alot of ticks on defensive boons while your enemy fight your clones.
If you want have a look at the build I use with the setup.

In a PU build, Decoy, Veil and Mass Invis are your best friends.

I tried using Veil twice in some testing, but didn’t seem to do very well.
I’m assuming you need to cast, run over it, wait for stealth to expire, and then run over it again before veil expires. With PU, you get 3 seconds of stealth and veil lasts 6 seconds. So it seems like there should be enough time. But I was having a bit of trouble pulling it off reliably.
Is there any other trick to getting two uses?
Couple of other questions
– I tried having the Duelist shoot through the veil. He’s traited for 100% projectile proc, but it seemed like I got different amounts of confusion stacks. I’m not running a condition build, but it would be nice to get everything I can from this. Am I expecting too much to think I should get 8 stacks?
- If a projectile both goes over Veil and the target is inside a Null Field, should they get two stacks of confusion? Or can a single projectile only proc one combo field (even if multiple fields don’t overlap)? If I could put 16 stacks of confusion on, it would be at least somewhat interesting.
Thx for the help!
@Eldenbri, run into it, stand in it and let u phantasm and clones do dmg. Jump up and down like a mainiac and u get a second stealth.

Just got a chance to watch your videos @osicat – great stuff as always!
I did a little more experimenting with Veil and I get the idea of how to get two stealths now – thx very much – that probably makes it worth using.
One more question if anyone knows – is there a list of skills that break stealth? I’m wondering about using Arcane Thievery from stealth and hoping it’s not considered an attack…
Any skill your mesmer causes direct damage from will break stealth. Arcane Thievery doesnt break stealth, as well as blink(even though visually your are out of stealth, but only allies and you can see that, for the enemy you are still in stealth.), Clones and phantasms do not break your stealth either. Not sure about shatters w/o hitting the person with illusionary persona.

With Prismatic Understanding viable but not optimal. It is must have skill with GvG, zerg vs zerg fights because it can hide whole zerg. Long cooldown make it rather situacional.
