Well, finally got my third compilation of my actuations in raid. Most of them are from second Tournament.

Been focusing on reaching high spike with mesmer, and some numbers are pretty high. Build is typical shatter boon-ripping.

Is shattered concentration that great a trait in large-scale raids, even as a shatter mesmer?

You’re realistically only hitting groups with only one illusion, plus yourself with IP 80% of the time. It’s a great trait; however, I feel that it’s effectiveness is questionable in large-scale fights where it’s hard for illusions to stay alive for more than 2 seconds. The trait really shines in small havoc groups or in spvp, especially if you have mirror images. I believe mender’s purity, GS mastery, or glamour mastery would be better alternatives.

I’m struggling to comprehend why it’s such a popular choice in zerg vs zerg fights and I’m wondering if I’m missing something.

hmm…. back when I was running with a skill group (and hopefully will be soon) I ran into the immediate problem of retaliation destroying my HP pool very quickly. You can see this in sPvP also. Go up to a guardian stacking retal and do a full shatter combo on him.. should drop you any where from 50 to 75% depending how much power he has and if he is using might stacks (which he will have in a zerg). Amplify 2 or 3 times over and it can get pretty painful =/.

While I don’t know if this is pa problem in EU or no, but that is at least what I find in NA.

@adelaide Lately i’ve been trying 2/6/0/0/6 with triumphant Distortion to have more survivability. It’s true that Shattered Concentration lose its power as more are the enemies.
Anyway, there aren’t much other viable ways. GS is a secondary weapon set for me, so GS trait wouldn’t make much difference. Mender Purity really is pointless in zergs, where condi cleansing comes from eles, warriors and guards. And Glamour Mastery would be good if Glamours weren’t such situational skills, I don’t really feel the need to have shorter CD on glamours.

@Kaamau, yep Reta is kinda of a problem for mesmers. There’s a thread about Blurred Frenzy and how the nerfs affect us. I don’t drop everything at the same time cause of this problem. If BF could be like before when we had invulnerability…

its still good in large fights, because mesmers main job is to pick off singled out players. it’s not hard to have a 3x shatter when you’re fighting 1000 range away from the big aoe

Kaamau is one hundred percent correct. Say you take ten points out for a little extra sustain with Mender’s Purity or another Dueling trait. What will happen? You will completely vape yourself on retaliation because you have no consistent boon strip. It’s even worse thanks to the sword nerf. You would think that those ten/twenty points should be flexible, but in practice they’re not.

Ty for the words, being using shatters for half a year.

There’s hardcore mode, god mode, and then Doiid mode with such deffensive stats xd

@BlackDevil, any chance of a quick trait break down? I have been experimenting a lot lately and am running very similar build to Ansau, always interested to see what others are having suceed in the zerg with.

Nice job, altough I prefer mantra of concentration and staff over blink/gs for that role
