Guild Wars 2

Been having a blast in PVP with this build – usually solo queue or with a buddy. Turns out it is nearly identical to the burst-shatter build found on the meta battle website currently. I made a short video for guildies, 90 seconds on the build, and then some clips to demonstrate the burst potential. Thought I’d share here as well, enjoy.

Why do I like PU vs. lock down builds? I admit, it’s a safety net. When you are targeted by 2 enemies, you can only effectively interrupt 1 while the other attacks. The escapability, IMO, is worth it – at least for me. Also, as I’ve gotten a feel for the longer invis times, I’m starting to use them offensively for some quick GS2+mind-wrack sneak attacks. As for Condi based and other builds, I simply prefer these weapons & playstyle (although I did run a condi staff/scepter+torch “blackwater” build for some time).

There is also a scene in the video involving some pre-match nude dancing at mid, which is taken out of context and “just for lulz” – even without the comical comments before and after, I still find it funny, hope it translates here.

I welcome any constructive feedback – both in regards to my mediocre Microsoft Movie Maker editing skills, and of course the build/gameplay itself.

Well it’s certainly a burst montage. I’m guessing the montage is the culprit for why PU seems absolutely unnecessary for what you were doing. I thought the MI before you dropped down on top of that ranger was weird as you burned a 90s elite and used about 2s of the stealth. Sure it allowed for the sneaky attack, but I’m not sure why you wouldn’t have bursted him in full view without it. I know we all encounter bad players, but your montage seemed to have an abundance. Like, people complain about Mesmer burst from PU stealth being OP, but even average players know what to look out for and dodge. These guys weren’t locked down under a stun at all, or imob. They just ate everything. Poor awareness of surroundings and failure to dodge :/. I know I at least run around everywhere with my thumb on decoy now with a dodge roll sitting right in behind it.

The vid quality/editing was fine. The 90s build opening was a major turn off. I would not take you out to dinner a second time :( Check my sig for tips on how to make a decent vid. Mostly though, you did fine.

Thanks Ross B! Indeed I read your vid thread, and I wish I had read that a long time ago, good stuff in there. FWIW in some previous vids I’ve quickly shown the build w/ mouseovers so that I can fast-track to the good stuff. It does seem though when you include a build, you get more hits on YouTube… not that that makes it a better video of course. Yes, this was just to demo blowing people up- usually not MLG calibur players At least I kept it to under 4 min of gameplay right!?? Anyways, thanks for the watch, and perhaps next vid you will agree to a second (third?) date!

As for the Mesmer class right now… after being out of the meta for some time, it’s good to be back. We are a hated class right now, which of course makes it very fun to play.

That guardian fight was funny. He just stays on point face tanking everything when you are not even contesting the point….He even said wp at the end….Many players srsly don’t know when to LoS

In his defense, I think the “wp” was a result of what felt like a long fight, there was a lot of back and forth (boring) prior to clip in there. I think he got confident as he did nearly have me at one point… and then he took it on the chin lol.
