I’ve started recording some fights in WvW while solo roaming with different builds, and I’m gonna share them in this thread.

Yeah I like the Maim hybrid setup too, though not with celestial.

Mesmer is one class that does hybrid well. PU still serves better in WvW due to the rate of gank squads and adds, and hybrid can be put to good use there too. Anyway, good vid.

Nice video man, some good gameplay on your part. Music was chill as kitten, which I love, though your Asura is the stuff of nightmares o.O

On the topic of the build, I’ve been trying to figure out the best settup for MtD , I like the ranged shatter aspect of it (not needing to get up close to be effective so I can focus on kiting) but I always feel the damage is not there with full condi. I like the idea of a hybrid build for it, but I hate having to make cele gear (I already made a full set for my engi and that was annoying enough) so idk if I will ever actually get to try it outside Spvp, and it definitely wasn’t great there.

What gear did you use with it? Roaming squads and adds are also the reason why I’m leaning more towards scepter+torch instead of staff. Staff+GS is just so good against thieves that it’s hard to let go T_T

Thanks! I agree, it’s pretty stupid process to make celestial armor. I just bought bunch of quartz’s and made it my daily roaming routine to convert them in WvW without really looking forward to the armor. I’m pretty sure you can mix bunch of gear to get good hybrid stats though.
I like the celestial a lot since it gives a good stat layout that you can patch with other gear for your liking. And with the added vitality and toughness you can make good use of Confusing Cry which potentially gives you permanent retaliation. +Healing just gets kinda wasted on mesmer.

nice video. Personally I’m with Ross in the armor. I think your losing out to much by using celestial. I’d personally go rabid but if you want more survivability then go Dire.

Also on the Scepter/Torch with Staff. I have tried going dual ranged before, but I feel i’m more viable with melee options at my side.

if you go double range weapon go carrion which will boost your condi dmg nicely
if you go scepter go dire or rabid

I’ve run MtD with pure condi gear too, but that’s not the point of the build. If I wanted to go full condi, I would.
I’m not by no means trying to make a metabuild and pushing for the max efficiency. Just wanted to try something fun and different, and there’s something about the hybrid damage I find really satisfying. You get that “melting” feeling from the condi damage, and the direct damage is still enough to make you feel like your skills are instantly punishing.

And about the weapons, staff/X+torch is def the way to go with full condi. But what I’m switching around is scepter+torch and staff. GS is always my primary weapon due the might stacks, knockback for SR and it’s just a very solid power weapon.

I used to run rabid weapons/armor with Cav trinkets. That was back before the rune changes which I was using max boon duration on. It worked amazingly well.

After the rune changes everything shifted. A big part of that was that the other classes changed too. Anyway it no longer felt strong enough and I moved away from hybrid entirely.

Since then my dabblings have been using assassins armor, zerk weapons, and rabid trinkets. However lately I’ve run zerk weapons/trinkets, assassnins armor, with maybe the amulet as rabid. Then used duration food and crystals just to bump the condi damage up into usefulness while maintaining that high crit chance, and solid power/ferocity. Cav can also sub in in place of some of the zerk trinkets to up that toughness but not suffer in the precision department thanks to the sassins armor.

I do have a vague memory of that happening, so could have been me.

But then again, that was 6 days ago. I barely remember what I did yesterday.

ok so it went like this: 2 drakkar guards trying to cap quarry → i run in → hold it as long as i can → everything ending up on cooldowns eventually → 1k incoming burning damage nullyfying my heals → an asura mesmer shows up stealthing me and buys me enough time heal up and get stuff off of cooldown → we kill the drakkar lake guys → asura mesmer apologizes for stealthing me

think it was you but even if it wasn’t, GO GUNNARS HOLD and keep killing the drakkar lakes, i enjoyed every moment of watching the video

Oh, might have been a different mesmer then, the apologizing part doesn’t sound like me. I remember a situation where someone was downed in quarry and getting stomped by 2 DL guardians(or warriors) and I came with mass invis and ress just in time.

Anyways, glad you enjoyed the vid!

The Sword, The Great Sword and The Greatsword

So, I wanted to try a more “fighter” type of mesmer with dual swords, and after some playing and failing I settled in 4/4/3/0/3.
I’m not really happy with the quality of fights I’ve had in the last week or two. Our matchups haven’t been too good for solo roaming, especially with this kinda build that is pretty limited on the fights you can handle.

I wanted to get good thief fights in the video, but for some reason most thieves I saw were bad or in packs. So I only got one thief fight in there that i kinda effed up.
The ellie fight is also pretty poorly played from my part. I haven’t fought many good elementalists in the WvW after my long break, and I’m pretty rusty against them.

Anyways, again nothing spectacular. Just a pretty goofy(but kitten cool!) build that I can’t recommend to anyone.
